This was the first place we stayed after Dublin, and it suited us perfectly. It is easy to find, with plenty of easy parking (important for left-driving novices!) and we appreciated being able to leave our car their the whole next day while we explored Kilkenny. Our room was spacious and clean, with great water pressure. Our host was very helpful, and offered to help us pay our M50 toll online, even though he was in the middle of cooking breakfast for other guests. We would stay here again.

Staying at Fanad house is a pleasure that reminds us why the personal experience of a family run hotel wins out over the generic hotel.

Run by its owner Pat, has the feeling of a B&B, but the comfort of hotel. Pat's welcome to Kilkenny is generous, with a dose of dry humour. He makes great effort to greet and remember your name personally- giving you a real sense of best of Irish hospitality.

Located across the road from the beautiful Castle park grounds (great for kids), it is a very short pleasurable walk into the heart of town (5 mins)- it has ample free parking, free wifi and is a quiet place to sleep (the hotels in the centre can be very noisy)

We booked Fanad House to stay in during the Cat Laughs festival and were not disappointed. It is 5 minutes from the town centre and on the outskirts of the castle's estate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was bright, spacious and, most importantly, very clean. There was also ample car parking available right outside. Breakfast is available from a selection of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts and a full Irish fry.
Brilliant all round - will be back next year for the festival, definitely!
