“Immaculate and friendly!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

This is a beautiful, spotless bed-and-breakfast. Rhoda and Phil have many years' experience catering to people, and it really comes through here. I was traveling alone during a quiet tourist time (which I recommend!), and it was obvious that they did not skimp in any way because I was by myself or because there weren't a bunch of other guests. Breakfast is huge, so you will never leave hungry.

The only downside was that because I was traveling alone, I did feel a little bit isolated being a 20 minute walk from the center of town...but I don't agree with the reviewer who said it is an unpleasant walk. It is actually a lovely walk along the river for at least half of the way. The taxi service is convenient, too, and I did that one evening for 6 euro.

I really enjoyed my conversations with Phil and Rhoda in the mornings - very interesting - and Phil did me a big favor at the end of my stay when I had forgotten something, helping make my journey smooth even after I had checked out.

I highly recommend this place!

“Honeymoon High-point!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Rosquil was a phenomenal B&B from the moment we walked in the door. We were warmly created by the owners (and other guests) and quickly found ourselves enjoying the high-point stay of our honeymoon. The room was elegantly equipped and very comfortable. Having our own on-suite was surprising at this price point and very much welcomed. We only had one night booked, and the owners effortlessly directed us to Kilkenny's main attractions, including a delightful Mediterranean cafe (which had the most amazing fruit crumble), and a wonderful local pub with live entertainment - all within walking distance of Rosquil. Breakfast the next morning was hearty and delicious, and Phil kept us entertained with stories. We wish we could have stayed another night and we will be returning.

“our haven for one night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We rolled into Kilkenny after suffering miserably from a stomach virus that had all three of us in various stages of discomfort and misery. We arrived earlier than we had originally planned, having scrapped any idea of sightseeing along the way. Rhoda appeared like an angel at the door and welcomed us and achieved immediate sainthood when she told us our room was ready. The room was lovely and large, with two king beds and a very nice restroom. The house itself is also lovely and immaculately clean, the front room common area very cozy and inviting. Others have commented that it is quite a distance from town but that is really not the case - a quick 10 minute walk brings you down to the River Nore and the center of town. We found the location to be just fine with the added bonus of plenty of off street parking. Rhoda and Phil were entertaining hosts and the breakfast that they put on is 5-star all the way, from the lovely table settings to the beautiful food they take so much pride in serving. I would recommend the Rosquil to anyone. Thank you for what was truly very appreciated hospitality by three people who needed it. xo

“Couldn't be faulted.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

What a beautiful B&B! We stayed here for only 1 night unfortunately but one day will return and spend much longer. Phil and Rhoda are so welcoming, informative and nothing is too much trouble. The room is beautifully furnished and there is a very comfortable lounge area for guest use. Breakfast was superb and so beautifully presented. One of the best!

Room Tip: We stayed downstairs in the front room which was great for us as we didn't have to take our suit...

“True B&B experience with an outstanding breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011 via mobile

My partner and I initially checked in for an overnight stay at Rosquil House, but were so impressed with the overall experience we decided to stay a further night. The rooms are well appointed and of a high standard. Phillip and Rhoda were extremely helpful and excellent hosts. Breakfast was simply perfect. We will definitely be staying at Rosquil House when we next visit Kilkenny.
