(March 2006) My wife, niece and I booked our first night in Ireland at the Killarney House. We generally only make reserations the first and last days of vacationing as we don't know where we may want to stop. there were no reviews on the internet so we really didn't know what to expect. Once in Kilkenny on Saturday the trafic was a mess. Apparently Kilkenny draws in a lot of the countryside on the weekends. (Hen Parties?) We had to call Terence for directions and he immediately showed up and guided us to the guesthouse. Although not too complicated, directions would be nice if they were on his website - [--]
The facility somewhat older but has been converted to ensuite. The rooms are adequately furnished and the location to town center is about a ten minute walk. We had two rooms and the rate was around 28 euro pps. Terence and his young daughter were excellent hosts and are more than pleasent to visit. The heating goes off at 10:00 then back on in the morning so blankets are furnished. Parking is tight when there is a full house. Breakfast was the usual full Irish. This is the Ireland that I remember from our previous trip when we tried to stay away from the hotels and the newer accomodations. This place has more of a local flair and we liked it. - Larry & Kelly, Georgetown, Texas
