“Good quality hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Overall this is a great hotel. For what we paid the room was fantastic value for money, clean and spacious. The reception staff were friendly. It's worth visiting the PVS Bar downstairs. There is also a private car park out the back offering free parking for hotel guests. The only downside was the street noise at night which could be heard through our (closed) hotel room window until at least 2am (and this was on a Wednesday night). Would probably stay here again if I visited Kilkenny.

Had a lovely friendly stay at the kilford Hotel with my family We were in Kilkenny at a wedding . We stayed at the Kilford for 3 nights and we would definitely recommend this friendly hotel for its spacious clean rooms and professional friendly staff who could not do enough for us. stayedhere recently and have to say it is still a great weekend away,as im a dub we were in our element, rooms great food great and geraldine still loyal to us after 12 years of goin with the same crowd, bar great and nightclub just what you want,oh and i forgot the scenery and the castle and the heritage it has,so im told ha.will agree about the bouncers there bit cocky, english not great so other than that everything perfect.its our adopted home because every dub knows you cant even break a smile in a dublin pub nowadays and they throw you out, recession robbed there sense of humourwill be back before x mas cheers

Room Tip: new part is more modern, not the bar end recepyion end

“Mixed Feelings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

My two friends and I stayed here at the weekend - it was the Sunday night of a Bank Holiday weekend so the city was pretty busy. Receptionist and management were excellent. The rooms were nice if a little dated but very clean and spacious. The walls are a bit paper thin as you can hear everything in the rooms next door (they weren't making a lot of noise just talking and I could hear it!)
The only problem we encountered really was when we got back to the hotel after a night out you have to ring a door bell. Then a bouncer lets you in. But because the city was so busy there were a lot of people trying to get in to get late drinks. I've never seen anything like it. You've to fight your way through the crowd and then then bouncer interrogates you. My friend said his name and had to fight to get his girlfriend in even though they had a double room!!! The bouncer was unwilling to listen to anyone and when we subsequently asked to leave the hotel again we were refused!!! Held prisoner almost. It's a pity as everything else was good. But I would really suggest that they chance the entrance for the hotel residents. It just doesn't make sense the way it is being done now.
