I just got back from a tour of Ireland and during my time in Kilkenny I stayed at Park Villa B&B. The rooms were very nice, very clean, and everything was kept up with like a hotel. But the hosts were what made the stay great. They weren’t invasive and didn’t mind my friend and I coming and going. And when we wanted to chat they were more than friendly. And they had great senses of humor which my buddy and I loved, constantly telling jokes. And if I may say so, they loved that we were Americans, which as everybody knows, isn’t exactly the most popular anymore, and nobody wants to hear ANOTHER negative opinion about America or our policies blah blah blah while they are on vacation. Instead the hosts Vicky and Pat were just great, and caring, and kept the conversations light and good humored with plenty of fun and jokes (or as the irish call it “the craic”, pronounced crack). The breakfast was more than I could ask for (more than enough food!). The location was walking distance from all of the towns sites; the huge tower, murphys brewery, the churches, the castle (not to mention the many bars!). All in all it was a great experience. If we ever end up making it back to Kilkenny, there’s only one place I’d stay and that’s at Park Villa.
