We drove down from Dublin airport to Kilkenny and arrived around 8 pm which was not a problem at all. The owner's son let us in and was very helpfull in finding a place to eat and give us directions. Ideal location to Kilkenny centre which is only a short walk away. Scrumptuous breakfast! Rooms are small but well-equipped.

A great place to stay. Within easy walking distance to "downtown" Kilkenny, and its excellent restaurants. The B&B was comfortable, quiet and the breakfasts great. We recommend.

We loved Kilkenny. Beautiful castle, great food and wonderful traditional sessions at Cleeres on Parliament street. This b&b is within walking distance to all the entertainment. This home really gives you an idea of true living in Ireland. So the rooms are a little small, but decorated nicely and kept very clean. The breakfast was delightful. We parked our car and didn't drive again until we left the b&b. We to the train to Waterford one day. The train station is only a few blocks away and it's only a 40 min ride through scenic country (23 euros round trip). Kilkenny would make a wonderful home base for your trip.

We stayed at Carraig Rua B&B for one night during a trip around southern Ireland. The B&B was really close to Kilkenny Castle, all the fun pubs and the quaint little stores, so we were able to walk everywhere (a plus when you're just learning to drive on the left side of the road...).

The B&B itself was OK. I felt like I was sleeping on a cardboard box, but it was very quiet and peaceful at night. The owners were nice, but not overly friendly - didn't really ask if we needed anything or help getting around. They were nice people though. The breakfast was good - eggs and bacon (which literally looked like it was stripped straight from the pig - not at all like the bacon in the States!).

If given the chance to visit Kilkenny again, I may or may not stay here. I would recommend it.
