“Quite nice but a 20 minute walk from Kilkenny City center”

Nice and clean rooms and hospitable owners. The room and bathroom quite nice but small, I have never been in a smaller bathroom. Attractive and comfortable home and location. The downside was that it is a long 20 minute walk to Kilkenny City Center. The parking during the day in the city is expensive and there are no buses to the city center. Be prepared to walk or park/pay.

“Elegant home yet cozy.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2009

Home is easy to find. Sits in a lovely residential area of large expensive homes. Close to shopping in Kilkenny. The owner Patrick Holden served in the U.S. Navy 1967-68 in construction. He and his lovely wife lived 12 yrs in Queens, NY. They helped me get my laptop's battery pack working (had to cut off the ground prong to fit into European adapter), and after getting them to talk they were quite friendly and helpful. They let you enjoy their home uninterrupted. My room was well-appointed with pretty furniture, and a nice bathroom.
The drive to Rock of Cashel was only an hour away, and I HIGHLY recommend the trip! I drove past a beautiful glass memorial on the birthspot of John Hoban, the Irishman who designed our White House in America! (All State Capitols are replicas, too.)

“Home Sweet Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2009

We stayed one night at this B & B and found it to be a wonderful experience. Friendly owners, who have spent time in the States, immaculate room, spotless bathroom. And a wonderful full Irish breakfast in the morning. Our Host also gave us some pointers when we were leaving, roads to travel, sights to see along the way, etc. If and when we return Auburndale will surely be on our lists of places to stay. And we enjoyed that we had to walk 15-20 minutes to town, it was a GREAT experience!!!

“Very nice experience.”

Three of us spent two nights at Auburn Dale, Kilkenny, and had an enjoyable experience. Nice room, wonderful breakfasts, cozy living room to read in at night. I enjoyed the grandkids coming out to say hello to us. Adorable!

One slight disappointment was that the B&B is not exactly close to the downtown area. It's probably a 15-20 minute walk, crossing over at least one roundabout. Take the 1 hr. walking tour in Kilkenny and go see the castle. Cute town!

“Great Place to Stay. Thanks Pat!”

We spent our first night in Ireland at Auburndale B&B. After a long day of traveling from San Diego, we were greeted by Pat who promptly showed us to our room. The room was very spacious and clean while the bed was very comfortable. Needless to say, we slept well that night. The next morning, an assortment of cereal awaited for us in the dining room while Pat made us a traditional Irish breakfast...Mmmm. Our only regret was that we didn't get to stay there longer to enjoy Pat and Teresa's company. Our trip to Ireland was only 5 days and we were off to our next stop, Cobh. I would definitely recommend this place to any traveler going to Kilkenny by car. Pat and Teresa, thanks for a great time and hope to see you the next time we're in Kilkenny!
