“Better Late Than Never... our Ireland trip two years ago.”

My husband and I took a two week dream vacation to Ireland in Sept/Oct 2009. Our first stop was Kilkenny where we stayed three nights at Dunromin. I can not say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay and what wonderful hosts Tom and Val were!. Though we enjoyed our other B&B's during our trip... Tom and Val set the bar so high, that no one else measured up in our opinion.
Since Ireland, we have stayed in several other B&B's while vacationing in the United States, where we live. Every time we come back from a trip... we always find ourselves comparing our B&B experience with Dunromin... and Dunromin still remains our favorite.
Val spent so much time going over with us, the best places to eat as well as sites to see in Kilkenny. Val and Tom where continuously available for any questions we had and always eager to help make our visit enjoyable. We stayed in the little blue room at the top of the stairs and loved it. Each morning we were greeting by a wonderful Irish breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed meeting other travelers from all over the world, and hearing their experiences in Ireland as well.
My favorite memory was a sing-along during breakfast one morning, in which Tom played the accordion and foot-drum. They handed ouy sheet music and all of us sang along to traditional Irish folk songs. My husband and I warmly referred to this experience as Irish Karaoke. haha
We loved walking in to town each day (only a 15 minutes walk from the B&B) and found Kilkenny to be beautiful, charming and full of warm, friendly residence. Since we have returned home, I have been absolutely homesick for Ireland.. and the country struck something within my soul, that no other place has yet to fill.
We will return one day... and will most definitely stay in Dunromin again.
Sincerely, Hope and Ty (Jacksonville, FL USA)

Room Tip: We loved our blue room at the top of the stairs. So cozy!

“The Perfect Hosts”

We could not have started our third trip to Ireland at a more perfect B&B. We had not been to Kilkenny on previous trips and were very happy we decided, thanks to previous reviews of this B&B, to stay 4 nights. The rooms are lovely with much attention to details and making your "end of the day" so comfortable. The hosts, Val & Tom, are sincerely the best. They would ask what you were interested in visiting and would have maps and information ready for you the next morning after a fabulous Irish breakfast. They would also add some non-traditional tourist places that made visiting the area so special. Val suggested a semi final game of Hurling in town one afternoon. What a terrific opportunity and so much fun.
The other guests we met were so wonderful as well. We too were part of the group that experienced the music session when Tom brought out the concertina and we all joined in singing a few popular Irish tunes that brought tears to my eyes.
The pubs, music and restaurants they suggested were wonderful as well. There is more than enough to visit in and nearby Kilkenny. A perfect location if you do not want to move each day and just relax. Like coming home at Dunromin. We hope, one day, to have the opportunity to visit again. Kilkenny should not be missed! This is a city for young and old(er).
Thanks again Tom and Val!

Room Tip: Don't know. They all seemed fine. Maybe in the summer when it is busier the back rooms may be...

The house was perfectly set up to welcome you and the woman who runs the place makes you feel at home. She was more than to willing to answer any question you have and help you make your vacation as enjoyable as possible. The rooms had everything any one would need!

Room Tip: All rooms I saw were cute, clean and fully decorated to make you feel at home.

“Warm & Welcoming”

We had a wonderful time staying at the Dunromin B&B, mostly because Val & Tom were warm, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about Kilkenny. Val gave us a thorough overview of the area and armed us with maps, brochures and details of all of the attractions. After our terrific breakfast, we were set for the day! In the evening, we walked into town for great music and "craic" in the pubs Val suggested. The highlight, though, was our last breakfast when Tom brought out his concertina and serenaded us with Traditional Irish tunes!
