“Perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2010

Words can not explain how wonderful and relaxing The Invicta is... Mary and Sean make you feel warm and welcome from the moment they greet you. Everything in the room was spotless and the view from the balcony was breath-taking.

We stayed in three other places all around Ireland and NONE compared with The Invicta. It was absolute perfection and you will not find a better place. I only hope I make it back to Ireland again just to stay there. It was simply heaven.

“Lovely stay, very comfortable & friendly.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

The house is beautifully situated near a lovely lake, peaceful & quiet, in scenic countryside. Ideally placed for Kilnarney, The Gap of Dunloe and many lovely walks, as well as great fishing on the lake. Shaun has boats for fishing use and a vast knowledge of the local fishing. The beds are comfortable in lovely rooms with no outside noise. The breakfasts are very nice and the service is good and friendly. Mary & Shaun are lovely hosts and look after us nicely, and we can't wait to go back to see them again.

“Charming B&B on Lake near Killarney”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2009

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Invicta for one night last weekend (15th August) and both felt that it was a charming b&b.

In terms of location, it is very close to the lake where you can hire fishing boats (from the b&b proprietor - Sean). It is also very close to the walking track that takes you to the Cascades 'waterfall' - very pretty and well worth the walk (it takes about 1.5 hours there and back), and to the road that leads up to the Gap of Dunloe.

For the B&B itself, it is very clean, warm and welcoming - on arrival we were offered tea with some tasty cup cakes and biscuits (yum!) and then shown to our room - a very comfortable room with a big bed and clean bathroom.

Our stay was also reasonable at 36 euros pppn. Well recommended to anyone who wishes to travel to this area.

“Best Hospitality...away from the crowds!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2009

Mary is wonderful! Our rental car was dying and after a very stressful day and getting lost, Mary instantly made us tea and coffee and fresh cookies! (They hit the spot!)

The rooms are great with modern bathrooms and showers. The location is a little out-of-the-way, but nice because it it away from the tour buses and crowds. If you are coming from Killarney, take the first Gap of Dunloe left (right after Hotel Europe). Take that road all the way down until the road "dead ends" and you see signposts. Take a left. Mind that this road quickly turns into one very small lane. Follow it around and you will reach the Invicta.

Killarney is a must-stop simply for a full day at Muckross House. You MUST tour the House, grounds, gardens, traditional farms and waterfall. Get a Heritage Pass- it will pay for itself.

“Hospitable hosts, beautiful location and great accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2009

We stayed four nights with Mary and Sean at the Invicta. Mary greeted us with a cup of hot tea upon arrival. Their breakfast was delicious (it even included the traditional black and white pudding.) Our sons, ages 4 and 3, loved Mary, and she let them come in her kitchen and play in her backyard. They still talk about her to this day. The B&B is 5 min drive from Killarney and only 5 minutes from the Gap of Dunloe. It sits on the lake, so great for fishing, canoeing, etc. Great restaurant nearby (at the entrance of the Gap of Dunloe), named Kate Kearney's Cottage - Great food, price, desserts and traditional pub music. The rooms were very spacious, clean and the beds incredibly comfortable! Overall, a great stay with warm, hospitable hosts!
