“Dissappointing bait and switch re rooms.”

Dissappointed to book a rather nice room online and then receive something totally different! We found the room (room number 2) on our final morning. It would seem that the proprieters are saving the room from wear and tear. To make thinks worse, our room was dated, smelt of mould and had a spider issue!
Also you note that anyone adverse to smoking should avoid this place due the smokers and lingering smell in the rooms.
On a positive side, breakfast was nice!

“Great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

The B&B was owned by a lovely family who were very welcoming and hospitable. Lovely surrounds for the adults and the animals are great fun for the kids.

Homely accommodation in which we felt most welcome. Rooms and facilities great. Lovely breakfast too. Beautiful area to stay in and explore - will definitely be back. Thanks

Room Tip: Give as much information as you can (eg about your children and ages), so your needs will be met! Mr...

“Pet Farm very disappointing!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

Went to the pet farm only (not the B&B) and was charged €35 for myself and 5 children (all under 8) Should have been €40 but the owner gave me a discount! The scenery is beautiful - but so is most of Kerry and I have a free view each day to the most beautiful scenery from my house. Apart from that the farm has nothing - a few ducks (caged) 2 pot bellied pigs and 2 donkeys all in pens that didn't allow interaction. Then there are 6 ponies that were all saddled up ready for the stables and a small foal (first animal that the children could get near to) and a couple of puppies that were asleep. There was an outdoor playground which wasn't up to much and which was being worked on so not exactly enticing.

I was so shocked that for this I was expected to pay €35 - we had done the entire farm in 20 mins and to say we were bored was an understatement. The childrens grandad has a more exciting farm but this place had sounded so good on the website and because I was looking after 2 extra for the weekend I wanted them to have a fun day out including pony rides. After the farm experience I knew what the pony ride would consist of - the whole place is extortionate...

I told the owner I wan't happy and after a brief exchange he gave me my money back . I told him it was a beautiful place and had great potential but that it certainly wasn't anywhere near the ridiculous prices he was charging. He then accused me of not even looking after the children as one had been left behind - my three year old was just slower making her way from the play area! He also said to leave her there as unlike me they wouldn't stop a child playing. All a bit silly at this stage so I was glad to go. He finished however by telling me 'Good Luck in England' and that he hoped I'd do better back there. Unbelievable attitude - I am from England originally but have been living in Kerry 12 years and had certainly not had any discussions with this man as to my heritage or residence.

As it happens I was in England during the summer and I took my 3 and their 2 cousins to a pet farm in the centre of Leeds ( ! ) bizarre yes, but in terms of value this was amazing - beautiful place with loads of animals and gorgeous gardens - all for £1 - all children under 12 free and all adults £1. Now Ireland is different I realise but still - this place is outrageously priced and true rip off Republic...

“Extremely rude and un-accommodating”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

This review is actually for the pet farm which the owners have recently opened. We did not stay at the B & B.

My partner, daughter, in-laws and I were in Killarney for the day, our daughter had being going on about a pony-ride so we relented. My partner called the pet farm and advised the lady on the other end that we had a 4 year old who wanted to go for a pony ride, literally sitting on the pony would have sufficed, it was 5.45pm was it too late? Not at all, the lady suggested we come on up and they'd see what they could do, I think she actually said they wouldn't be turning anyone away.

So we arrive at the farm, beautiful setting and it's nearly 6pm. We meet the gent at the reception/shop of the pet farm. We explain to him our dilemma, no problem says he as long as we pay €5 per adult (4 of us) and €7 for the child. These were his prices, they were clear on a noticeboard in the shop. My partner then explained that she had been speaking to a lady on the phone who said they could accommodate us. But no apparently they couldn't. In his own words he said he could have "5 cars in in the time it would take to put your child on a pony", not at 6pm you won't! I then suggested that I would take my daughter in myself and I would pay the €12 it would cost for the 2 of us. Unfortunately he was now seeing euro signs in his eyes and would not budge unless everyone entered the pet farm! We left.

Ireland is in a recession, but it's not effecting this chap at all. I'm not sure if he said there's no recession in Kerry but it wasn't far off! In a word: AVOID
