“We felt right at home”

My husband and I stayed at the Alderhaven Country Home for two nights during our first trip to Ireland. It's a lovely home situated in a suburban area with its own private drive and privacy with farmland nearby. Nori and her family were so welcoming, and quite helpful throughout our visit. We enjoyed her company, and excellent suggestions for not-to-miss local establishments. Also enjoyed visiting with other guests from Florida at afternoon tea. We were very comfortable, and wouldn't hesitate to visit again and bring friends! The garden was lovely too (see picture).
The Ring of Kerry is our #1 NOT TO MISS part of Ireland.

“Great experience and would be happy to stay here again!”

My wife and I spent our first two nights in Ireland on our honeymoon here and very much enjoyed our stay. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and accomodating and offered great tips for where to go while in the area that worked into our plans very well. The breakfast was awesome and the room we had was very comfortable. No complaints at all about this wonderful B&B. If we are ever in the area again, we will certainly stay here once more and hopefully for longer next time.

“Amazing place - Amazing People”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2009

Killarney was by far our favorite city in a two week trip to Ireland mad even better by the hospitality and smiles provided by Norrie and her husband at Alderhaven. She helped us with recommendations for an evening that included great food and traditional music as well as arranged for us to have door to door pick up for our Ring of Kerry tour. In a city full of B&Bs, this was a diamond in the rough.

“Staying at Alderhaven was my favorite part of our visit to Killarney”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2009

Alderhaven is a lovely B&B on a hilltop a little outside of Killarney. It's a short ride (or a long walk) into the town, but since Killarney can be a bit noisy and hectic, staying here was a pleasant respite. We were greeted by Buddy the dog, who was a great friend unless he was out chasing rabbits! The home is large, lovely, well appointed. The hosts - both of them-were warm, pleasant and very helpful. A generous delicious breakfast is served in a lovely breakfast room with many windows overlooking a field full of plump little bunnies and a pasture. I was traveling with two sisters and our hosts set up a room for us with three single beds. It was a little crowded, but understandable given the fact that there were three adults in one room. The beds were comfy, the comforters were lovely and plush. The bath was well appointed. All in all, a pleasant stay! I'd love to stay there again.

“Great Stop in Killarney”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2008

Lovely place in Killarney. Easy to find and you turn off for it before you begin to cut through the town but after you exit the national park that borders it - so no confusion about driving through town.

I should say first that Alderhaven is not directly in the center of Killarney however that did not matter at all. You could walk into town as we did but it was a bit far and you want to try and drive.

Beautiful large house set back on its own private drive nestled in the woods a bit. Her dog came out to greet us as we arrived, and there was a horse in the backyard.

Very nice rooms and she served us tea on arrival since it had been a bit rainy. Gave us a great map of Killarney and showed us some nice spots in town. Breakfast the next morning was excellent as well and her sitting room is beautiful - juts out into her backyard and the horse eyed us up as we ate which gave us a laugh. As long as you are fine with the location (and you can walk into town and would probably find parking on a side street if you drove) this place is perfect and good value as well.

  • Liked — Possibly the best breakfast we had
