“Wonderful”

I waited to long to write this review, but our stay here is still memorable almost a year later. The hosts are very welcoming and gracious, and the rooms are spotless. They are a bit dated, but they have a cozy cottage charm. The lodge is located a bit out of town, but it is in a beautiful location, and you can still walk into town. There is a path right across the street that is amazing to walk (or run) on and I recommend it. If you are driving the Ring of Kerry, ask Denis for some tips and the best places to stop. He gave us great directions and some places to see off the beaten path. I highly recommend this place!

“Spotlessly Clean"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

This was the cleanest bathroom we've experienced in any B&B we've ever stayed in! It was also spacious with a shower-in-bathtub combo. The two room bedroom arrangement was also spacious, and the beds were the most comfortable we slept in during our entire trip. We spent three wonderful nights here and wished we could have stayed longer! We took the "short" walk through the park into town. It took us at least 45 minutes! By the time we ate dinner and walked back home, we were really tired! Our hostess was friendly and helpful, but we really only saw her at breakfast (which was tasty.) I would definitely stay here again.

“Ideal location not far from town and nice morning walk to Ross Castle”

Stayed here with my family and we found the experience delightful. Both Denis and Rosaleen were terrific hosts with the proper mix of making you feel at home while leaving you independent to come and go as you please. Be sure to have Denis provide you with some pointers of what to see and do on the Ring of Kerry" road. The grounds are well maintained with many flowering bushes and flowers in fairly large front yard by Irish B&B standards; this also affords you the luxury of parking off the main road with plently of room to get luggage in and out.

We stayed in the bedroom on the 2nd floor near the end of a long hallway which was spacious along with a good sized bathroom attached. Be aware that the lodge is located next to the Killarney Horse Racing grounds so you may hear the "clip, clop" of horseshoes starting around 7AM or so.

The breakfast was provided in a timely manner with the highlight being the extra bantor provided by Rosaleen during our meal.

The lodge is located a good 20 minute walk from downtown but we found it a good excuse to get some exercise in the evening, even with a bit of rain. Would also suggest a 15 minute walk in the morning down to Ross Castle as the lighting is perfect around 9AM for some photos that include reflections of the Castle off a stream near parking lot.

All in all, we have definitely "bookmarked" this lodge for any future travel plans to southwest corner of Ireland.

“Warm and Spacious!”

After a delay in departing Dublin, we arrived at nearly 11:30pm to Ross Castle Lodge. My friends and I were quite a sight for sore eyes. Denis kindly stayed awake to let us in and offered a warm welcome and showed us to our room. There were three in our party, and we were given a two-bedroom, one-bath suite upstairs. The rooms were extremely comfortable, with adequate space for moving around, and included charming architectural and decorative touches. The bathroom appeared to be recently renovated, with an electric shower - which required a bit of direction in use, but was perfectly fine.

Rosaleen served a great breakfast the next morning, with options that accommodated some dietary restrictions, and helped us decide our itinerary for the day. Due to time constraints, we had to choose between the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry. She offered great advice, and once we decided on the Ring of Kerry, she pulled out a map and made a list of notable stops and landmarks to visit on our drive. We followed the list to the letter, and had an amazing drive that day.

The warmth and hospitality here were outstanding. The premises were clean and the hydrangeas at the entrance and the driveway were absolutely gorgeous. We wished we would have stayed here one more night.

Room Tip: Reserve early!
