We had always wanted to visit Ireland as my grandparents were from here. We arrived for our two week holiday with just the first two nights booked (we didn't want to schedule everything as I am told there are a lot of hidden gems in Ireland). Our first stop was in Killarney, with our pre-booked reservations for Kathleen's County House! I must say I am SO glad that we had pre booked this place! When we arrived Kathleen herself welcomed us with a warm smile! She gave us lots of information about Killarney town and about the wonderful surrounding countryside. She even booked us tours of the Gap of Dunloe and tee times for my husband and I in the golf courses.
After arriving in our beautiful room (taking time to look at the beautiful paintings on our way) Kathleen came up and gave us some fresh milk for tea and lovely Irish biscuits. I must say this was definitely a life saver as my husband and I were tired from driving from the airport. She has a lovely cosy library with many books about Ireland and a free computer with wifi. She booked us into a lovely restaurant for dinner. The breakfasts was delicious (freshly cooked bacon and sausage- a true Irish breakfast) with lovely fresh fruit salads.
We stayed here for five nights (we couldn't resist) and Kathleen arranged accommodation for the rest of our trip for us.
Kathleen's definitely stood out from all the other places that we stayed in over the years. A true Irish gem. She and her staff were wonderful . They all shared their local knowledge with us providing us with great tips for everything from touring to restaurants to dry cleaning to anything else we needed help with.
Overall, it was a welcoming, comfortable, safe and inviting place to return to after a day's touring.It was a home away from home where we could come and go as we pleased. I highly recommend this place and we hope to return to Ireland with our relations again.
I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay in Killarney. Even if you have not done research on Ireland before your vacation I would highly recommend you stay here. Kathleen and her staff will help you with anything you need. It really made our trip to Ireland a memorable one!
