“Wonderful!”

We stayed at Darby O'Gill's for a school trip (front USA) for a few nights. It was charming and had tons of character. There was some mold and spiders in the bathroom and in one of the rooms the knobs in the shower broke off, but other then that the room was fine. The food was cold and bland but the ice cream was great! One night they had a singer in the bar and another they had locals dancing to music which was fun to b apart of. The back garden was beautiful, we took a nap in the warm sun there. If you are looking for some super clean classy hotel then you are not going to like this place, but if you are looking for some where that locals might stay and that has tons of character then Darby O'Gill's is your place. We did make jokes and call it Drabby O'Gill's but out of all of the places we stayed in Europe Darby O'Gill's was the most fun and they most unique.

“Great value for money and good location to explore local area”

My girlfriend and I booked a 3 night midweek stay at Darby O'Gills whilst on a week's holiday to the West Coast of Ireland. We decided to book this place due to the special offer available....3 nights accommodation with full breakfast, Irish coffee upon arrival and one 4 course evening meal each, all for the great total price of 107 Euro (£92.) This was cheaper than local B&Bs and other similar hotels.
We were given a warm and friendly welcome upon our arrival.
Our room was much bigger than expected and consisted of a double and a single bed. There was a small round table in the corner with tea/coffee making facilities, as well as dressing table, wardrobe and drawers. The television had 4 channels but was crackly. The room was clean except for a few cobwebs around the window, which we just dusted off.
The bathroom was also spacious with a clean bath and shower, but we had to clean away ourselves a few suspicious stains around the toilet area....
Our room was at the end of the first floor and away from the lift/stair area, so it was fairly quiet.
Our room was made up daily with fresh towels and cups.
Breakfast consisted of what was clearly tinned pineapple and a choice of cereal, with a choice of what you wanted for your full Irish breakfast. This was brought over by the waitress rather than a buffet style.
We ate in the bar on the 2nd night to make use of our free 4 course meal and this was a tasty and big portion. The found the bars to be cosy and tastefully decorated with an Irish theme in one and sports in the other.
To sum it up, this wasn't the cleanest hotel to stay in, but if you're just using it as a base to sleep at, inbetween exploring the area, then it is more than adequate and is great value. We probably would stay here again if travelling to the area on a budget.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the bar and restaurant areas, as well as away from the lifts.

“Horrible”

Arrived about 7pm - no food served at a bar at this time... We were so hungry after a long trip, that the bartender made a soup for us (it was quicksoup from a pack) which cost 18euro for 3 of them!!! Anyway, went to the room to see an outdated furnishes with a lot of scratches and 10 year old beds.
We ordered a breakfast in room. Paid aditional 5 euro for tray and the food was just droped inside. We ordeder 2 coffees and a cup of tea, but only got a tea and we couldnt eat the scrambled eggs as it was so disgusting....
Made huge mistake by staying here.

Room Tip: dont go here

“Darby O'Gills”

Took a trip with my wife to Killarney and booked into this novel, quite hotel for the weekend to see the sites and explore the wilderness of Kerry. Arrived on the Saturday afternoon, checked in, all very friendly. The room was quite small, possibly the smallest in the hotel according to the fire escape detail on the back of the door, however it was large enough to meet our needs and we dropped our gear and headed out to explore.

We returned at 9 that evening and ordered sow food, I little overpriced for microwaved beef, but eatable, and after having a few quite drinks we headed off to bed. Woke at 2am as I was completely frozen. Zero heating in the room, and normally that would suit me, however I may as well have being sleeping outside it was that cold. To add to this, in the morning when I finally got out of bed, exhausted after not sleeping due to the cold, my wife demanded we leave the hotel as she was positive of been bitten by mites in the bed! This was unusual behaviour, but I was not prepared to argue. Obviously the heater wasn't working, o they maybe orgiven for this, but mites.....I don't know! We had paid for both nights but were happy to leave regardless after the first night.

Overall, visually clean, friendly staff, but if you can't get a comfortable sleep, then whats the point in forking out for this So-So guest house! I have being all over the world, from 5 star hotels in Hawaii to zero star hostels in New York in the depths of winter, and I ave never being excessively cold nor had issues with mites in the bed!

Killarney is full of places to stay so there are other options, but if I was going again I souls avoid Killarney altogether as it's overpriced and crazy busy, Kiltorgin, a small town not 15 minutes away is a far better option for those who want to experience rural Ireland!

Dingle, Inch and the Ring of Kerry are amazing and a must see for all thirsts and Irish like!
