“King of the Muckross Road Lodges & B&B's”

Planned one night in Kilarney for a mid week trip, and was sad not to have had more time there. John, the proprietor opened the door and made it feel like home there after. A large Lodge on the long road of B&B's on the road into the city, but I am delighted we chose this one. A great price, for the location, extra large bedroom, and just 10mins walk into the city.
John was very friendly, offered a lot of help, and local knowledge. Would recommend!
There is free wifi in the bedrooms and also a computer in the front room if you need it.

“Just perfect.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

I stay at Abbey Lodge about 8 times a year having found this wonderful B&B on this site.

The Lodge is imaculately clean, very comfortable, fantastic location for the town centre and local ammenities and the breakfast is lovely.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, in fact Evelyn went out of her way to book a room for me at another B&B whilst Abbey Lodge was closed over the Christmas holidays - (Thank you!!).

So if you are looking for a place to stay in Killarney that is very clean, comfortable, close to town, great breakfasts and fantastic staff then look no further......Abbey Lodge is the place for you!!

“Quaint, charming and fabulous!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

Our group of four booked two rooms. Ours was at the front overlooking the street and was beautifully appointed and the double bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very roomy and the tub was huge! Abbey Lodge was clean, cozy and full of charm. The breakfasts were amazing with multiple menu choices besides the full Irish breakfast. The fact that you only had to stroll 5 minutes down the street to the city centre was a bonus. The owner was wonderful but we only had the chance to speak with him the day we were leaving. The two days that we were there, we dealt with the regular staff who actually did not seem very friendly at all. We were a little taken aback by that as the owner is as genuine and down to earth as you would hope for. There is a large parking area in the rear of the building which made things very easy for us with our vehicle. I would definitely recommend the Abbey Lodge for anyone traveling to and staying in Kilarney. One of the best meals we had our entire trip was in town at Foley's Seafood and Steak House.

“Beautifully appointed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

I was very impressed with the bedroom amenities that Abbey Lodge had to offer. The best of any B&B during my 2 week Ireland travels with my husband--down to the little things that I forgot to pack (like a shower cap) We stayed briefly overnight and for breakfast before checking out for our next Ireland destination. I would've been happy to stay longer because Abbey Lodge is very tastefully decorated in addition to the attention to room amenities. The Lodge is located on a very busy road but it is an easy walk to the center of Killarney. Although I am partial to an Irish greeting upon arrival, the Irish owner spent time speaking with us at breakfast and went out of his way to help with making phone calls--even offering his own cell phone when I couldn't use my calling card. All was of excellent quality at Abbey Lodge.

“Unexpectedly wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

I was prepared to hate this place upon arriving and discovering that the wifi doesn't really work on Apple products and the phones were out, but the owner and manager, John, was so polite and helpful that any criticism has utterly died in my throat. He actually called up a friend of his to see if we could get the wifi working on my iPad. It didn't, but really, it was fine, even though I was relying on telecommunications to make our plans as we went along. There's a perfectly good
computer in the lobby. The rooms are lovely, recently renovated, and the hotel couldn't be in a better location: just far enough away from town to be quiet at night, but not so far that any kind of long walk is necessary. The train station is also very nearby. The service and the five star breakfast are what really recommend Abbey Lodge, though. The breakfast features five substantial choices, along with a full array of continental items (including fresh scones!) served in a lovely atrium. Do not miss it! John was kind enough to cater to my somewhat impatient parents, and even waited with us for a taxi, just chatting. If you want the real down home Irish hospitality, I think you couldn't imagine a better place.
