We had to stay in this place as we arrived into Galway about 2pm and there was nothing else available on a Saturday afternoon anywhere in the city. This was the most expensive place we stayed at in all of our 2 weeks in Ireland and it was the worst place we stayed. The lady who ran the house was very sweet and the location was nice because it was a short walk from downtown. However the bed was horrible, water not hot in the shower and you could barely move in it, and the breakfast was awful.

Teresa greeted us with a warm welcome for our 4-day stay. The room was well-appointed, meeting all our needs and expectations. The dining room was beautifully adorned with furniture and china. Breakfasts were prepared as requested, more than ample in size, served hot, and were delicious.
There were only two negatives about Balcony House we experienced. The view out the window was nothing to write home about, as it looks over a neighborhood of duplexes. The parking lot is very small. We were fortunate in that when we arrived there was no other car in the lot, so we backed into a space and left the car there for the next 2 days.

Balcony House in Galway is near to the city centre, and right next to the racecourse if Greyhound/Horse racing is your thing! The proprieter and staff are welcoming and friendly, and this sets the tone from arrival. The rooms are clean, spacious, comfortable and well furnished, I stayed in a triple room with friends. The breakfast was very good, a full Irish fry-up with all the trimmings - and set my friends and I up well for the day! Parking was no problem outside the property. Overall, nothing to complain about and a good, honest and pleasant B&B, you won't be disappointed.

City centre is about 10 minutes walk and parking is available on site so it was convenient to walk into this cute touristy town. Pubs are plentiful but closer to the river there are nicer restaurants. The centre is alive with tourists during the day and a brisk trade is done by all the souvenier shops, jewellers and other businesses. Balcony House was clean and comfortable thanks to the work of Teresa who is welcoming and pleasant. The high speed Internet was very wecome as many B & B's have none.
