I took a spontaneous trip to Galway this summer and found this B&B the perfect place to stay. Its located just a short distance from the start of the walking streets where all the stores, bars, and restaurants are located. Sorcha was very helpful in giving me all the information I needed to get around solo and even packed my breakfast for me when I was late for my tour one morning. I had a floor to myself when I was there so didn't have to share the bathroom. Although my room was small, the view from my window made up for it. I fell in love with Galway and have been back a couple more times since then. Since I know the city better now, I still agree that this is the best location to stay in Galway!

Herons Rest is very central so you can easily walk around & discover Galway, plus you have parking available right outside your door.
Sorcha, your host gives an extra touch to your welcome with a crystal decanter and brandy for two plus a delicious chocolate to enjoy.
The room was small but clean. Our own bathroom was outside our room but only 2 steps away and again very clean.
Breakfast was 5 star with fresh muffins, fresh fruit and a beautiful cooked breakfast presented by chefs. The only negative, and this is unavoidable if you want to be central, is that it was noisy at night from revellers walking along the street outside.

The Heron's Rest is not only ideally situated for exploring Galway and the surrounding area, but its owner, Sorcha, really makes your stay special. She is charming, friendly and gracious, and went out of her way to make our stay perfect, helping us book tours, for example, and a table at a very trendy Galway restaurant at the last minute on a Friday night. (It was one of the best and most astounding meals of our entire trip, by the way.) The rooms are lovely, comfortable, and the view of Galway Harbor from the rooms is breathtaking. The breakfasts were delicious and the perfect way to start a day of sightseeing. We can't recommend this B&B strongly enough.

My first trip to Galway and a brilliant introduction to a wonderful city and its people. Sorcha was a first class host, even reciting a moving Seamus Heaney poem to us while cooking a truly delicious breakfast. A real treasure of a person and place - it can't be recommended highly enough. Location is perfect, the rooms are extremely comfortable and the friendliest, most talented young proprietor one could hope to meet. Go there!!
