“Best B&B experience at the Swallow Inn, Galway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2011

A great stay at this B&B. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with warmth and hospitality from the owners. A central location with free car parking was a benefit. The stay was a pleasurable experience, like home away from home. The room was a nice size, with clean towels and tea making facilities. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh, nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely recommend this to anyone wishing to stay in a high standard B&B in a Central location. I only hope that when we come back there is availability for us. Other B&B owners would benefit from taking tips from The Swallow.

“quite OK, but moldy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2010

Patricia is a great hostess and always ready to help. However, there was a problem with wi-fi and they did not solve it until we were leaving (and as I was on a business trip, it was quite unpleasant). Also, the bathroom was quite moldy (the otherwise white shower door was black from heavy layers of mold) and some of the breakfast fruit was rotten.

“Worked out nicely”

Patricia put us up, late in the evening. Had a nice breakfast ready. Not a full fry but more than enough toast, brown bread, eggs made to order, cereal, yogurt. Parking off street.

“Jimmie and Partricia make you feel like family.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

Located just a few minutes walk from the City Centre and the famed Galway Bay in Salthill, The Swallow is a nice, cozy B and B at a reasonable price. The proprietirs, Jimmie and Patricia are two of the kindest souls ever to grace Galway. I arrived very late, well after midnight, and was greeting with hospitality and charm. Breakfast is a fine spread, and all in all I would recommend The Swallow if you are looking for a great Galway experience.

“Check Carefully”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2008

I booked 2 twin rooms well over two months in advance of our stay only to receive a call the day before we were due to travel to say `they had to be elsewhere`. I was diplomatic when receiving the call, but would say I was not happy. They had arranged for us to stay at D`arcys about 20 yards away ... and for the same price, but the point is, I had researched this place and knew nothing about where we being relocated.

For reference, I wouldn’t recommend D`arcys, and felt aggrieved at paying the owner, Pat, full whack even though one morning he never showed up to give us breakfast!!! I realise we could/should have kicked up a fuss but we didn’t feel at the time that causing a scene would be any benefit, though he did in the end knock €5 off our bill, €100 each for the 3 nights instead of €105.

The main point of this review is to check thoroughly with the Swallow Hotel as we were left with a feeling of being messed around somewhat, though appreciate they may well have had genuine reasons, the lateness of the notification was the problem and didn’t give us any chance to find somewhere else.

Good luck!
