“Good Location, But Not Much More Than That”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

My husband and I were traveling recently with our mother's throughout Ireland. I wish I had read the reviews before booking, but we really just called the hotel without doing too much research due to the great location. Now don't get me wrong, we knew we would be staying in the busiest part of town, but what we were not told over the phone when we were making our reservation (when we said we were traveling with our 70 year old mothers) was that we would be staying on the first floor of the hotel, just over a live band that was playing until 2 am. When we arrived and were told that, we asked if there were rooms on any other of the floors and were told no, although there was a sign out front advertising that they did have rooms available for the night. There was not much we could do but to give it a try since we had already booked with our credit card information.

The location was great, we were were located within walking distance of great shopping, pubs, and restaurants. We found the rooms to be clean, spacious, and comfortable. So there were some positive aspects to staying there. But we weren't able to sleep until the band had stopped playing.

While we were checking out the next morning, I suggested to the receptionist that they should really mention about the live band, especially if people note that they are traveling with family. She shrugged and said this was the lively part of town and we would be hard to find a more quiet spot in the area. In my opinion there is a big difference between staying in the lively part of town, hearing people at the pub or in the streets than a live band playing until the middle of the night. If we had been given this information when we booked, we would have chosen to go elsewhere in the area.

Room Tip: Unless you will be staying out until past 2 am, inquire to see if there will be live music before bo...

“Three great days at the Spanish Arch hotel in Galway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

My son and I recently spent three days in Galway on the hunt for traditional music. We weren't disappointed, we came across more sessions than we could take in. My son is a concertina and accordion player and had a ball with all the other young traditional players around.
We chose to stay at the Spanish Arch Hotel as we figured it would be close to the action. It was a great choice. We parked the car in a safe parking garage a minute from the hotel, got a deal on the parking by staying at the Spanish Arch, and then could walk wherever we needed to go.
All of the hotel staff were great and very helpful. We had a lovely meal there and heard a couple of great musical acts in the Spanish Arch bar. The rooms were fine and comfortable.
We'd recommend it to anyone thinking of spending any time in Galway.

“Fantastic Choice”

Stayed here a few weeks ago for a weekend break in Galway. It is in an excellent location to access all the pubs, clubs and restaurants, although the pub and restaurant in the hotel was excellent to we ended up staying there both nights. Lovely food and live music till late. It was an ideal location for us as we didnt plan on going to bed early anyway, however may not be great for children during the weekend as its right in the centre of all the action.
We didnt need to use our car the whole weekend as Salthill beach was only a stroll away. Overall it was an excellent choice for a weekend break. Will definitely be back and would recommend it to a friend.

“What a place!”

Stayed here on a girls weekend away. We had a ball! The rooms were mint really clean and fresh the only thing was we had to ask for more towels cause they were just too small but the blonde house keeper was so nice and helpful that it wasnt a problem.
But when we came downstairs the place was absolutely rocking. The craic was mighty altogether with a savage band playing great songs followed by a gifted dj. The receptionists were just the best giving us a late check out as we were struggling the following morning. The really close car park was ideal at just 10 euro a night.

“Fantastic Birthday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

This hotel and its staff are a delight to work with and really made my birthday extra special. I had been planning my 30th Birthday for a few weeks. Booked 5 rooms and also reserved an area in the bar for my party. Even though I'm from Galway myself I decided to stay in the hotel rather than getting a taxi home. The rooms were basic but spotless and more importantly very good value! A Quad Room @ €25 per person!-Couldn't be better! The staff looked after us so well. Check in was a breeze, Had dinner in the bar on the Friday evening, which was lovely.
Party in The Snug on the Friday night was just great, They really pulled out all the stops, put up the decorations for me, gave us complimentry fingerfood and there was always someone around just in case we needed anything. This is always a lively place on a Saturday night and the same was true was that Friday night. Brill Live Band! Bar didn't close until 2am, then we had a resident's bar after that! All in all Fantastic Stay!
