Well I stayed here on and off through my travels in Ireland. I would say I was here for almost 2 weeks. Yes, it smells like diesel but that is the top floor, the other floors are fine. It is not as pronounced as most people stay unless your in the hallways. The rooms are fine. The owners act on every issue immediately as does the staff. The staff do their best. The have a comedy night there run by a well known comedian and it's great entertainment for a laugh and a drink. All you have to do is go upstairs and pass out after. The food was great for a bar, nothing to complain there. Central location and right across from the train station so you can check out Athenry or some of the local places. Also, the Aran island departures leave from this area and the Arans are very interesting for history buffs. The rooms were clean as were the bathrooms and the prices are excellent. People expecting more for this price may have unrealistic expectations. It's easy to forget it is a downtown hotel in what would be considered a pricey area of Galway. Compare the price to hotels across the street and you will see the rooms are slightly better but for 4 times or more the price.
