“An excellent location and very kind owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I recently spent 3 weeks in Galway working at NUI Galway as a visiting scholar. My stay at the Adare was just excellent. The location is very handy to downtown, and a modest walk to the university. The owners could not do enough for me, and made me feel totally at home. The breakfasts were lovely and prepared with care. I really enjoyed this location and the people, and recommend it highly to others in the same situation.

Thank you very much for your kind review.

It was a real pleaure hosting your visit for three weeks in Galway in our Guest House and that you enjoyed your time with us and taking time out to see our son playing Rugby in Galwegians rugby ground.

If you or any member of your family ever visit Galway again we would love you to have you stay with us in Guest House.

“Surprised at the quality, in a good way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

My wife and I spent two nights at the Adare Guesthouse recently and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation. The price we paid was a bit more than the highest price advertised on their website but we expected that as it is the case with most accommodations for New Years . The guesthouse is located only a five minute walk from the Spanish Arch and there is plenty of parking outside. It is even closer to a host of shops, pubs and take aways.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the ever cheerful and helpful Grainne who showed us to our very spacious room at the front of the guesthouse. The ensuite room had a very comfortable double bed, two single beds, a small tv and free wifi. There was also complimentary bottled water and chocolates. The ensuite was a bit small and only had a shower (no bath) but like the bedroom, it was very clean and had plenty of shower gels and shampoos. The radiators did stay on all the time but as the weather wasn’t great, it was nice to come back to a warm comfy room and it was no great hassle to open one of the windows if it became too hot.

The dining room was a bit of a squash when full but the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming as we chatted with the other guests. Breakfast consisted of a decent selection of cereals, fresh fruit, then Grainne would cook up your hot breakfast to order and supply you with plenty of tea and toast. And breakfast was ready when you were which was great.

We didn’t use the living area as we had a tv in the room but there were large chairs and a big tv if you wanted to use them. The tea and coffee facilities were available for use 24/7 and there was a large tin of chocolates on hand just in case!

You have to remember that this is not a hotel, it’s a guesthouse but I have paid more money for hotels with worse facilities, smaller rooms and no breakfast. I would definitely and most probably will, stay here again.

“Not That Great.”

We stayed for three nights at Adare, and enjoyed the breakfasts and the coffee machine, along with the cozy downstairs sitting room. The location is also ideal, being five minutes away from the city center of Galway.

However, the experience overall was disappointing and overpriced for what we got. The owner was not terribly accommodating or friendly. We did not receive any orientation to the city, nor were we given any information about accommodations with the guesthouse. I had to call and ask for the internet password and check-out time. Furthermore, the owners were almost never on the premises. Upon returning one night, all of the lights in the hallways were completely turned out and we had to fumble for our keys in the dark.

Also, a lot of the bedroom service was the bare minimum. We had to take out our own trash, beds were not completely re-made, had to ask for more toilet paper, water for rooms was not replenished, etc. Worst of all, the heat could not be controlled, so the rooms got very warm at night. It's very much a "no frills" sort of place, and the owners should not be charging as much as they do, especially when you can get a room at the same price at the Park House Hotel or a far nicer B&B.

“Great location in Galway.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

My wife & I only stayed one night at Adare Guesthouse, and we really enjoyed our stay. Our bedroom was pleasent, very clean, it also had a kettle for tea and coffee, the bed was comfortable. The choice for breakfast was excellent. and we were not rushed or hurried in any way.The best thing about the place was it's location, about 5min stroll to the center of Galway where all the action is.
We will stay at Adare Guesthouse the next time we go to Galway.

“Wonderful Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We loved staying at Adare's. The breakfast was wonderful - great pancakes with salmon!!! And my husband went crazy over the coffee machine. The owner was fantastic and we LOVED HER SINGING every morning! What a cheery place and so was so helpful with all of our questions and requests. It was a great location and within walking distance of great restaurants and pubs.
