“Depressing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Might be the people of Dun Laoghaire have great fun using the gym facilities in the basement of Rochestown Lodge - but overnight guests surely could find the place rather depressing.
Rooms are rather o.k. despite the awful curtains that don't let proper daylight in - but mating pigeons on your windowsill at 4 am are not really fostering a good night's sleep.
Breakfast in a dimly lit restaurant was a depressing start into the day. Although officially served to 10, the 'buffet' had only a couple of rolls left at 9.30 - beside packaged cereals, tinned fruit Coffee a total disaster. Cooked breakfast (why did I take it in the first place??) like it used to be in B&Bs 20 years ago.
At a rate of 70 Euro for a single room it was an experience not to be repeated.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without pigeon traces on window sills! And have your breakfast at Idlewilde Restaura...

“Weekend break and more!!”

I saw an advert in the local paper and decided to ring. The staff were helpful and friendly and the booking made. Was easily found after a drive down from N. Ireland. First impressions were good. Clean tidy and efficient. The room didn't disappoint and the leisure suite and pool were very good. The location was a short bus trip from the centre of Dublin with a bus stop a minutes walk from the hotel.
What really made the stay was the food. One of the best meals I can remember, with great service, A modern contemporary style of hotel that was very pleasant and comfortable.;-)

“Wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Dublin area!”

I think my title of this review says it all. They are the nicest group of people, very accommodating and the price is very reasonable. I can't say enough good things about the Rochestown Lodge.

The food is wonderful here as well but if you want something else the Sallynoggin Inn just down the street is awesome!!

“We love the Rochestown Lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

NO HOT WATER ? WE STILL LOVE ROCHESTOWN LODGE !! my mother and I were due to stay at the Rochestown 20th-23rd December as we were over from England for a funeral. However, Rachel on reception rang me on the 19th to let me know that we would have to cancel our booking as the hotel didn’t have any hot water. She then recommended that we stay at another hotel in Killiney, but within an hour on the 20th we wanted to check out of the other hotel as we were feeling “home sick” for the Rochestown. My mother in particular found it difficult to negotiate the two flights of stairs to get into this hotel and inside the hotel itself. Their disabled access was also hidden away and we did find the door locked and the bell not working on one occasion.
But the Rochestown came to the rescue. On Wed 21st after a beautiful funeral lunch at the Rochestown, I begged Rachel and Anna to check us back in. “But we don’t have hot water” they said. “I don’t care” I said. I can’t begin to say how much we appreciate and love this place. The staff are so friendly and can’t do enough for you and the access in to and around the hotel is perfect. Not only does my mother have reduced mobility, my brother is a wheelchair user. We also held my uncle’s 90th birthday party here in December 2010. Again the staff and food was impeccable. Sadly it was his funeral that we were over for this time round.
Rachel and Anna both said the other hotel was a 5 star hotel but that doesn’t matter to me. It’s the welcome you get that counts. If anything the Rochestown should be a 5 star hotel  I believe a lot of guests were reluctant to switch hotels and made do without the hot water “we’ll boil the kettle and that will be grand” What a testament! I would thoroughly recommend the Rochestown to anyone, especially for wheelchair users. Great stuff. Keep up the brilliant work!

PS: if you want a comfy chair to sit on in your room the staff will lend you a couple of chairs from the bar
