“A hotel? More like a nightclub”

Myself and my fiance booked a romantic weekend away to Dublin to spice things up if you know what i mean, Upon doing a google search from my office looking for a cheap and cheerful hotel in Dublin close to the city centre up poped The Sunnybank hotel, i taught to myself "what the heck" and booked up.
If i knew what i know now i wouldnt have gotten off that Ryan Air Boring 737 800 series aircraft. We were greeted at reception by a man calling himself John who was lovely cheerful fello, A ringer for Mahatma Gandhi if i might ad, he showed us to our room where myself and my fiance quickly got down to it and had one of the best sessions of love making in our 4 years together, we made a lot of noise and some paint came of the wall, what sort of cheap paint are you guys using there? we broke a couple of the springs in the bed as well which was hugely dissapointing, Later on in the day i informed reception about the spring issue with the bed and was told it would be sorted(it never was)
That night we went for a romantic meal to a nice restaurant in the city and then went for a few drinks. Came back to the hotel at 2am and the place was packed, there was no way everyone was staying in the hotel, As we walked in my fiance was man handled in the nether region by a person known as "The Bullet", after a brief confrontation with this man we went to our room, we could not sleep with the noise downstairs, it was an absolute disgrace, this noise went on til 9am the next morning, To make matters worse we had to improvise when it came to love making due to the broken springs on the bed, we had no choice but to check out on the sat morning, dont ever stay at this hotel, you have been warned

“Ignor the negatives, those people clearly have no appreciation for traditional Irish culture”

The reason my friends and I visit Ireland every other month is for the friendly, welcoming culture and the heavy drinking sessions, this is the 1st Dublin hotel that we have found that not only make you feel welcome but also where the staff and locals actively join in with you. This place is without a doubt a little haven where the music, drinking and dancing continue throughout the night, we even didnt go into town one night as we felt we were missing out as here everyone was a friend and fun to be with. At 3am Sean the bar man saved us from starvation be personally making us sandwiches, at lunch time when we surfaced we were met by the friendly receptionist and a warm Irish hug from the bar staff, the chef came out to check our fOod was ok every time and to offer anything else we needed. Without a doubt this place is for fun loving, down to earth sociable people who require a friendly and often drunken atmosphere. Enjoy chaps. From a good old Yorkshire gal x

“Hell hole - Hotel inspector would have a field day!”

From our arrival at the Sunnybank 'bar l unge' (missing 'o' on signage!) our stay was eventful. The car park was nowhere near big enough and cars were clearly abandoned causing double parking, and quite a bit of manoeuvring was required to ensure you wouldn’t come back to find your car damaged by someone else’s attempts. If anyone had to leave in an emergency, you couldn’t! We were greeted by a friendly member of staff, who we could just about hear to speak to over the noise of the cleaner who was doing the hovering, and asked to pay upfront. This was ok at the time but the next morning we would have been refusing to pay at all!!! Having arrived back at the hotel after a concert we were greeted by the same member of staff we had met earlier who was now drunk. We were then forced to endure numerous renditions of loud drunken males singing 'who let the dogs out' along with various other chanting and shouting. This continued until 9am in the morning! We then received a knock at our door asking for our car to be moved to let someone else out. At this point we were more than happy to leave, without having had our breakfast (which we had paid for-but did not wish to dine with the male 'choir' who had serenaded us all night long). Unfortunately we couldn’t find a member of staff other than a cleaner to whom we handed our room key and got as far away from the place as possible, sadly without a refund!! The room itself was clean however only one plug socket out of a possible six worked and there was an unusual bathroom setup with the toilet (which had a broken flush) overlooking a floor to ceiling window facing onto the main road with only a net curtain for modesty. There were marks and dents up the walls - possibly from previous guests’ frustration of a sleepless night listening to drunken louts! Do not stay here, and if you do... you've been warned!
