I would highly recommend a stay at Azalea Lodge in Dublin. I apologize for the delay in writing this review as I visited in August 2011 for 3 nights. I was greeted with a cup of tea and wonderful scones; a welcome treat after a long drive. Each morning, breakfast was amazing. We had fresh fruit, more of the fabulous scones, and a made to order breakfast. A wonderful way to start a day's sight-seeing around Dublin. I stayed in the single front room which I was warned could be noisy, but with my trusty foam ear plugs I had no trouble sleeping at all. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean with a large bathroom and shower. Bernadette is an excellent hostess and was really helpful in giving directions and recommendations. I had a wonderful visit and can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

“Wonderful B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I recently stayed at Azalea Lodge over a long weekend and I must say that Bernadette and Padraig truly are the most accomodating and gracious hosts! They were extremely helpful with everything from helping me parallel park my rental car, to giving me directions for a road trip and suggesting shops where I could buy gifts. The location is very easy to get to from the airport and there is ample parking along the side street. It also is extremely close to the bus stops to get into the city. And, as an added convenience, Bernadette has city bus and tour bus tickets on hand to purchase(and I would definitely recommend the Hop On, Hop Off bus tour). My room was very clean and I found it to be comfortable and accomodating to my needs. A traditional Irish breakfast is served every morning...and Bernadette's potato cakes are exceptional. Overall, I had an amazing experience at Azalea Lodge and would highly recommend it!

“OK accommodations for our needs”

Convenient location for our needs as we were heading to Newgrange one day then flying out of Dublin the following day. Public transit is right across the street direct into downtown Dublin, takes about 20-30 minutes. Free parking, great breakfast.

We arrived at 2pm and had a strange welcome. Guess we caught the owners offguard, maybe they were in the middle of something, but it seems like we were imposing them when we checked in. But once we got to know them a bit better over the next few days this changed, they're quite a chatty couple. We had a room at the front of the house, traffic noise isn't that bad (remember you ARE staying in the capital) but I'm not a light sleeper either. Room was a bit small but clean and comfortable. Limited amenities near by but we spent most of our time downtown.

“Excellent in all respects”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We (myself, my daughter and my mother) stayed at Azalea Lodge for four days and were very pleased we did. Bernadette and Padraig were wonderful hosts right from the start. We appreciated the fact that Bernadette had a supply of bus tickets we could purchase which made our trip into the city trouble free. Breakfast was sensational and our room suited us perfectly. Bernadette and Padraig went out of their way to provide assistance and advice (re hire cars, booking a taxi to the airport and getting in and out of the city) and were very kind in making sure that I wasn't charged twice when I accidentally booked two rooms instead of one. There was a wonderful supply of travel guides which we could help ourselves to in the breakfast room and Bernadette gave us very good advice on where to eat at night. An especially kind gesture was when Bernadette packed us some of her lovely breakfast scones to take with us on our trip back to England - our ferry left very early in the morning - far too early for breakfast. This wasn't our experience at other bed and breakfasts where nothing was provided when we had an early start. We felt extremely welcome at Azalea Lodge and would happily stay there again.

“Azalea Lodge is wonderful”

I arrived at Azalea Lodge a little after 7am due to strong tail winds that got my flight in to Dublin very early. Bernadette let me check in early. The room was very clean and had a double bed and 2 twins. The bathroom was small and also very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Bernadette and Padraig made us feel very welcome and answered all our questions.

The Irish people we met were so friendly. I would definately recommend Dublin for a vacation and would highly recommend the Azalea Lodge.
