You might see I gave this hotel a glowing review previously, but things have changed a bit since my last visit.
Positives: I love the bar, really nice relaxing spot to have a drink in. The rooms are generally very nice, but some wear and tear now showing.
Negatives: This place is understaffed. They just seem to be run ragged, no time for a smile or any courtesy. Funny thing is that when they mess up your order because they don't listen, they are happy to exchange looks of disgust or dismay. Get it right first time.
The staff are not as good. Fot this management must take a look at themselves. Has management changed recently? Staff were all new to me and seem to hate their jobs, probably because there is not enough of them.
I had breakfast lunch and dinner here recently. Breakfast was simply a scrum, staff could care less. Lunch was less of a scrum, but god it was the least personal experience in restaurant ever, like a poorly run factory.
The water...so they're cutting corners with the boiler. Two days, no hot water either day. Second day phoned reception, within 5 mins standing cold in a towel water came warm, I think someone put money in the meter. This is unforgiveable. A one star hotel knows that it all starts with electric and plumbing.
I left with the distinct impression that they're trying to save money. But it seems to me that if you cut the basics of warm water and even decent service that you may as well close the place.
It still looks attractive, so focus on the service and you might be back to the 5 star rating I gave when you seemed to care.
