“Great location but shabby apartments”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed here for a few nights whilst in Dublin as the location looked excellent. It was. Extremely close to Temple Bar and other attractions.

Upon arrival it was a rather complicated way of getting in to the place, we had to get in to a lobby to get in to a lock box to get in to the lobby of the tower block and then finally got in to the apartment. Granted we did arrive about 7am but it just seemed like a bit of a carry on.

The 2 bedroomed apartment itself was reasonably spacious but it was pretty shabby. The paintwork was chipped and marked everywhere, a blind in a bedroom was broken and the grout in the bath/shower was disgusting. It just didn't seem like it had been cleaned very well at all.

It was also very noisy, both within the apartment block itself and down at street level (our apartment overhung a main thoroughfare) so if you're after peace and quiet this is definitely not the place to stay!

If you are a group of friends wanting a place close to Temple Bar and not really bothered about the accom then this place is ok, but if you're after something a bit nicer then I wouldn't really recommend it.

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time to post your review on tripadvisor. I am delighted to say that we have now reopened a 24 hour reception desk at our Millennium apartments. Guests are now greeted by a receptionist who is available to ensure your stay is a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
I apologise there were housekeeping and maintenance issues during your stay. We have a continuous rolling schedule for large works, such as painting, carpet and window cleaning. All our apartments have been painted since Christmas.
The apartments are located in a lively location, therefore there will be a certain level of noise from the street below, as there are many cafes and restaurants located on the Millennium Walk way.
If you wish to discuss your stay any further, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely
Deirdre Treacy

“Comfortable apartment, some flaws”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

My partner and I stayed in Apartment 17 recently and found it to be spacious and comfortable. My balcony was an added plus as my partner smokes. The location, whilst great and central to Dublin city, was on a busy side street. We were woken several times during the night by passersby and a street washer who woke us at 5.30 washing the street with a powerhose. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils. We found a first aid box in the kitchen that contained nothing. The dvd player was not connected to the dvd when we arrived so we had to connect it. The main door was also difficult to open from the inside. Only one set of keys. The phone in the apartment was not connected and did not work. Other than these small flaws we loved the apartment and would rate it well.

“My 4th time..not quite impressed.”

Well..where to start?
This is my 6th visit to Dublin in about 1,5 year. I love the country and people. What a friendly bunch. The Irish are very chatty and always friendly towards strangers, always willing to have a chat. With a general attitude of "ahh..it's all Grand"..and "we will manage"..you have to love them.
It's a lovely place to get around and as it's my 6th visit I know my way round Dublin really well. The transport system is really good, and there is an abundance of Taxi's..way too many maybe. You can be stopped by a taxi and asked if you need a lift to the airport if they see you with a suitcase.
Well, back to my accommodation: I have stayed with StayDublin 4 times out of the 6 visits to Dublin. They have apartments spread over the City, and for the price they are great value for what you get.
I stayed between the 5th-9th of January. This is also my second stay at the Millennium Towers. Great location, right in the center of the city, you can#'t really ask for a better location. This also has it's downsides as it's right on a busy walkway, loads of noise and also on the route for many party goers on their way home from a night out in Temple Bar area.
I booked a 1 bedroom app. And was given a 2 bed which is great, but I only used the one room off course, being alone. On arrival you do a self check-in. They send you an email 2 days prior to arrival with a code to get into the reception are and another one for the safe box to pick up your key.
There are 3 keys, one to get into the building where you are staying, second one for the landing doors and the third for the door to the apartment. That can be a bit complicated when you are out at night for a few drinks and have to get in at night. The key for the landing didn't work so someone had taped over the lock on the door which had then come undone and the landing door was locked, key didn't work so I had to go up one floor, take the lift down and unlock it. I then set to work on finding some cardboard to put in the lock so anyone coming home wouldn't run into the same problem.
On the day of my arrival I went to a local bakery and bought a lovely loaf of bread, warm and crusty and some pate. Looking forward to this i got back into the flat which has as nice kitchen area and opened the drawer containing cutlery/kitchen utensils. No bread knife, actually no big knife at all. So I sliced my big crusty loaf with a small table knife..aw. Totally ruined the bread as i mite as well have used a fork.
The window next to the kitchen area was so caked in dirt I virtually couldn't see out of it. Ah well, I wasn't there for the view. I sat down on the sofa to eat my sandwich and took the remote control for the television to turn it on. Pressing away, nothing..checked the tv was on..still nothing. Took the back of the remote, no batteries. I found the housekeeping who were very nice and they supplied me with coffee sachets(missing too) and replacement batteries. Went back to the aptm and put them into the remote, still nothing, so I gave up.The light outside the front door was nonexistent and as the entrance is in a dark corner it's a bit of a process getting in the front door after dark. Also finding the apartment when arriving was a bit of an issue.Aptm 48. It was located on the first floor, but as I couldn't see any signage i went up and down on the floors until I found out that it was located out in the courtyard. Numbers are a bit all over the place as 44/45 are inside on the 1st floor, 48/49 are on the next floor. Bit confusing. A floorplan at the entrance would maybe be a good idea?
The last thing is having guests over for a drink in the evening. The buzzer system at the main door doesn't work. It didn't work last time I stayed there either. So you do have to run down and let people in. Having 3 friends over did mean 3 trips down to the door. This can also be an issue if you are several people staying there as you only get the 1 set of keys so if your not going home at the same time it can mean a few trips to let the others in.
I do enjoy the price/location of the apartments, but did notice that they had been renovated lately. I'm not quite sure in what way thou. I had a feeling that number 48 wasn't used that often, and I did ask if there was anything else available but was told that they were fully booked. I did also make house keeping aware of some of the issues.
I was told that there are in the process of getting a manned reception in the main building which I guess will resolve some of the issues and make it easier to get help when the housekeeping go home in the afternoon.
But don't get me wrong, the staff are really helpful and very friendly and they will help where they can. I think one of the best apartments I have stayed in is Christchurch Hall apartments, which are also run by the same company and on the opposite side of Dublin but still only about 10 min. walk from the center.
All in all, apart from the negatives it's still a great place to stay. The issues I had were all cosmetic and minor issues and big points could be scored if stay Dublin took a bit of time just to get them sorted. Window cleaning is an obvious one and maybe checking the other things everytime someone checks out to ensure it's all working. If your going to supply a kitchen with plates, oven, pots and pans then you need to expect that maybe someone will use it and ensure that there are a few knives to make/prepare the food with. Still..3 out of 5 stars. I will be in Dublin in 2-3 months time again.

“Excellent central location, comfortable, better value than hotels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

The location is very central to Dublin (no need for a car or even public transit unless you venture outside the central area.) There is a nice small grocery store at the ground floor, so you can put the apartment kitchen to use right away. The unit (we stayed in Apartment 4) was comfortable, with 2 bedrooms and a large living room. The only trouble we had during our stay was a loss of hot water. This was easily fixed by a phone call to the management and they told us how to reset the water heater.
This experience is obviously different than a hotel -- there is no on-site reception for the Millenium Tower, and there are no common rooms or restaurants or bars like a hotel has, but you are in central Dublin just steps from Temple Bar. And the Millenium Walk neighborhood that this building is in has a dozen restaurants and pubs within a stone's throw.
If you have a larger group and are looking to save a little money, then this is a great option. I would choose this again if I can get back to Dublin.

“Really good value, great little find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We had apt no 9 over new year -what a fab time. So central, spacious and excellent huge terrace. Great view. Penthouse rm with windows was great. Bedding clean and place had everything you need. We had 7 of is sharing and despite only one small bathroom we had a ggod laugh. If you want a fancy hotel then not for you but perfect for big groups who want value for money. We would return.

Small improvements- more towels and especially bath mat. Another key. Seats/ table on terrace to enjoy view

Room Tip: Ask for rm 9 to get penthouse room
