“Nice staff, let down by place...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

I stayed here four nights. On the positive side the rooms were not too small and were cleaned every day. The building has a lovely aspect and is light and airy. On the negative the carpets were very dirty and need more than a clean with water. The front desk is virtually unmanned after 11pm and several times my family tried to phone and could not get through. And lastly, as other guests have commented upon, the breakfast is really terrible and the only place the staff were unfriendly.
I have noticed that the Manager of the Hotel has replied to each review, which is great. But whhy then has he not taken guests comments to heart and changed the food and service? It is VERY poor. Gloopy custard yogourts, terrible coffee, a toaster that no-one knew how to use and I had to help three other guests retrieve their toast! Supply live yogourt, good bread, skimmed milk, non-processed plastic wrapped cheese and ham that is not cut in little squares as it dries out too quickly. This would be an easy change to effect. Last sunday there was a litre of orange juice, a litre of apple juice and a two litre plastic bottle of milk left for clients to use. None of them were even put in to a jug. The staff generally were very helpful and it is a shame that with just a little thought the place could be so much better.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for posting your review on Tripadvisor following your stay with us. I am disappointed to hear that you were unhappy with some aspects of your stay. Let me start by saying thank you for your comments regarding our staff. I am surprised to hear that you found the carpets to be dirty as these were deep cleaned within the last fortnight, however, my apologies if your room did not live up to your expectations. I was also disappointed to hear that your family could not get through on the phone as there is indeed 24 hour reception cover. If for some reason the receptionist/night porter has to leave reception, there is also a voicemail service. Over the past few months we have indeed changed the continental breakfast offerings on a few occasions in response to guests wishes and we have found that it is really down to personal choice. I have taken up the issue of the milk and juices with the breakfast staff as we do have glass dispensers for both milk and juices.

We do rely very much on our customer feedback to inform us of any aspect of our business which does not reflect our reputation. I do hope this experience will not deter you from returning to us in the future so as to afford us the opportunity to redeem your faith in our operation. Kind regards, Pat Considine.

“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

We stayed for 2 nights even though we were intending to stay 3 nights. Got our money back for the 3rd night and continued south for the rest of our holidays. Room was booked for couple and one child. it had 3 single beds with no space between them. If they had told us they couldnt fit a family of 3 then we would have found somewhere else to stay. Cost €70 per night. Room only had a tiny walkway between desks and beds. Grubby carpet. Only one pillow per bed but no problem getting two when we requested. Breakfast adequate because we knew thats what we were getting. No Croissants though, grapefruit tinned!! Fairly misleading from pictures we had seen of bedrooms and mezzanine lounge...

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the IMI Residence. I do apologise that the standard of your room did not live up to your expectations. Our rooms are slightly on the small side, but have comfortably accommodated a family of three on many occasions. I hope in the near future that you may return and give us a chance to redeem ourselves. Kind regards, Pat Considine.

“Difficult to find, too far from city!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

Myself and my boyfriend stayed one night at IMi residence along with 5 of our friends.

The room was basic, but clean and comfortable enough. Our room looked out onto the front of the building so there was some noise from passers-by. Also although we booked a double room, the bed was two twins pushed together which created quite a gap in the middle. There was only one pillow each, but this could be seen as nit- picking, overall the room was fine.

We had to take a taxi to our destination as the hotel is pretty far from anywhere except dundrum town centre.

Breakfast was minimal, and not replenished so if you arrived near to closing you were out of luck.

We tried to arrange a late check out, but were told this was not possible. Staff did not seem very accommodating, except Ahmed who booked our taxi and showed us where to go.

As mentioned, this is a conference centre with accommodation that is let. If you are looking for cheap, basic, accommodation and you have a car and a sat nav stay here. If you are looking for luxury breakfast, or a good location stay elsewhere!!!

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the IMI Residence. Our continental breakfast buffet is usually sufficient for the majority of our guests, however my apologies, if on this occassion it appeared minimal.
We do try to accommodate special requests such as late check outs, but as you can appreciate, we were full and accommodation staff do need time to clean so as to allow arriving guests to check in on time. I am glad to see that our night porter was able to assist with your taxi requirements and directions. Thank you once again for your feedback and I hope that in the near future you will give us a chance to redeem ourselves. Kind regards, Pat Considine

“Dear, dear, dear ....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

First impression, horrible, grey, concrete monstrosity.
The IMI is in fact the Irish Management Institute, it is NOT a hotel of any kind, this is in fact a conference centre with accommodation for its delegates, that is resold as a revenue generator.
It was clean and tidy, but that were its only good points, everything else was miserable; we were so disappointed we arranged alternative accommodation within 30 minutes of our arrival.

If you want to enjoy Dublin, don't stay, it'll spoil everything for you.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to post this review. I am sorry to hear that you left the property after just 30 minutes. Past guests have also mentioned that the exterior architecture of the building was not to their taste, but they have gone on to have an enjoyable and relaxing stay. We do hope you went on to have a wonderful stay in Dublin. Kind regards, Pat Considine.

“IMI Residence NOT a hotel, bareable for €55”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2011

The IMI Residence is NOT a hotel, it to me looked like student dorms. The location is unsuitable for anybody without a car, the car park in surrounded by trees and VERY BADLY lit. I would not walk through the car park alone at night, especially if female. I will admit I didn’t choose the IMI Residence by choice, but due to concert in Dublin there were no available hotels in the area and I had a business meeting in the area. I booked a twin room, and was greeted with a double room, well 2 single beds pushed together to make a double with 1 duvet which barely reached from edge to edge. The room was clean so that I would not fault, but I wouldn’t return to stay, and if I had arrived as a solo travelling female I would not have waited. The walls are quiet thin and televisions from neighbouring rooms can be heard. If you are looking for a cheap room it is that, and maybe I was expecting too much for the price of what I was paying - €55, but personally I would pay the extra to get a little bit more and to get what I booked – ie twin room.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the IMI Residence. I am sorry to hear that you were allocated an incorrect room type upon arrival – this was indeed our mistake, however had it been brought to our attention, we would have arranged an alternative room for you straight away. We are currently looking at adding additional lighting and signage in the campus grounds for guests arriving by car. I appreciate this is of little consequence to you now, but I would like to assure you that your feedback has been acknowledged. In relation to public transport to the city, there is a regular bus service right outside the door (number 44), and the stop for the LUAS tram is 10-15 minutes walk away. Kind regards, Pat Considine.
