“A great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

After reading some of the reviews we were a little concerned. We arrived on a Thursday and were greeted by friendly staff, our room was a good size situated at the back of the hotel. Unfortunately later it became apparent that our heating was not working so we were transferred to another room on the 5th floor. Again a good size room, in both rooms the bathrooms were dated so assume this is the same for the all the rooms. They really could do with updating. Unfortunately despite being on the 5th floor you can still hear some noise from the nightclub on the Friday night, the walls seem to be paper thin, you can hear people in the next room when they plug things in, bizarre really as the hotel is such a lovely old hotel you would think the walls would be thick and therefore you would not hear so much. However despite this the hotel is in a great location not far from the park and Grafton street. I would definitely stay here again as it does offer good value for money

“Location, location, location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Booked this Hotel for a; combined Business and leisure break. I have stayed before and new the location of the Hotel is perfect for exploring the Dublin night life, while avoiding the touristy Temple Bar Area.

Staff are both helpful and friendly.

Rooms and Hotel Generally need a bit of a refurb.

If you are looking for a base to explore night life with a couple of mates, give it a go. If you’re looking for somewhere “nice” to take a partner, have a look at the alternatives.

Room Tip: Front is above Night Club.

“Great Location”

Found this hotel through a guidebook - as we wanted to be downtown and not have to drive. The parking garage was a bit of a hike away - but with wheeled luggage it was doable. The hotel room as clean, though the lobby was a bit worn and the support staff were very helpful. We ate at the hotel a couple of times as my partner became ill (though no fault of the hotel) during our travels. Our room was overlooking the entrance - and faced the street and pubs - it is true there was noise from the revelers going home (many singing!) however - Dublin is a live, vibrant city - so I expected there to be some noise as we were in the heart of it! We loved looking out the window at the city - and there was a coffee shop directly across the street! I think the Grafton Capital is an excellent location for the money - you truly get to feel the heartbeat of Dublin when you stay here. I only hope to return under better (health) circumstances.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, ask for rooms in the back.

We booked this hotel for our mini break thinking it looked really smart and was a bit of a bargain. It turned out to be distincly average. Rooms were ok but bed was terrible. We changed rooms due to wire sticking out of the matress and cutting my leg. Second room was better in that department but the bathroom was very shabby. Hotel staff not interested in my injured leg (ok it was only a cut but still). We complained when we returned and were initially offered discount at their sister hotel...no thanks, do not plan to return to any of their hotels again! In the end we fought via expedia to get some money back. The plus point of the hotel is its location, excellent and very central to shopping etc.
