A disaster! My single room was poky, a little shabby and missing towels but that was just the start. Having spent the first of four nights in it, I discovered a suspicious 'lump' right at the bottom of the bed. I am quite short so didn't discover it from the inside when I slept in it the night before, but next morning when sitting on the end of the bed. On investigation I found a discarded pair of men's underpants IN the bed (not ON the bed, but IN it - between the sheet and the duvet). Absolutely disgusting! The staff later admitted that they had 'allowed someone to shower in the room' before I checked in and hadn't re-cleaned it. That explains the missing towels, but I suspect the underpants is a sign that there was a bit more going on than showering.
The staff then moved me, whilst I was out at work, without asking my permission and in the move managed to leave some of my belongings behind in the room which they then allocated to someone else. When I returned they said they couldn't go into my old room without getting permission from the new resident who was out. I ended up waiting til 11pm before the night porter took matters into his own hands and let me in to retrieve my things.
When I checked out 3 days later, the staff were still being defensive and intimating that there was nothing wrong, and I should be grateful for having been 'upgraded' to a better room.
Needless to mention, I will not be returning.
Room Tip: Single No 36 is poky, tired, and when I had it DIRTY.
