“Weekend Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2012

Fantastic value for money, room was very comfortable and everything I needed. The en suite was great, the shower pressure was excellent and I think I might copy the tiles they used in my own bathroom.

Plenty of amenities a short walk away, a taxi to the Guiness Factory is about 10 minutes. Dublin Airport 20 mins. Starbucks is a 5 minute walk with plenty of other bits and pieces in between.

Room Tip: Room 21 - nice and quiet.

“It was great until breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2012 via mobile

Stayed in this hotel for one night and was pleasently surprised on arriving. The room was very big and well furnished. The service was great and the bar food was fantastic. Now here comes the but, breakfast was like going to another hotel. The buffet was poor and the scones (in a wrapper) were well stale. The full Irish wasnt a full Irish and was cold. The service at breakfast was very poor and could be classed as rude.

“A horrible experience - avoid at all costs...”

A disaster! My single room was poky, a little shabby and missing towels but that was just the start. Having spent the first of four nights in it, I discovered a suspicious 'lump' right at the bottom of the bed. I am quite short so didn't discover it from the inside when I slept in it the night before, but next morning when sitting on the end of the bed. On investigation I found a discarded pair of men's underpants IN the bed (not ON the bed, but IN it - between the sheet and the duvet). Absolutely disgusting! The staff later admitted that they had 'allowed someone to shower in the room' before I checked in and hadn't re-cleaned it. That explains the missing towels, but I suspect the underpants is a sign that there was a bit more going on than showering.
The staff then moved me, whilst I was out at work, without asking my permission and in the move managed to leave some of my belongings behind in the room which they then allocated to someone else. When I returned they said they couldn't go into my old room without getting permission from the new resident who was out. I ended up waiting til 11pm before the night porter took matters into his own hands and let me in to retrieve my things.
When I checked out 3 days later, the staff were still being defensive and intimating that there was nothing wrong, and I should be grateful for having been 'upgraded' to a better room.
Needless to mention, I will not be returning.

Room Tip: Single No 36 is poky, tired, and when I had it DIRTY. 'Best room in the house' 41 was much...

“No frills & Noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2012

Stayed here 1 night on a recent business trip. The staff were helpful and there was a friendly atmosphere, i can't fault them. I was disappointed however by the room. The single-bed room was very small, had an odd smell, a broken toilet seat and the bed linen/towels despite smelling clean contained several random hairs on both.

I suffered a disturbed night sleep due to noise levels in the hotel. The rooms are very close together and the thin walls mean that you can hear every little coming and going of your fellow guests. There was also a function taking place downstairs that went on till around 2am - loud music and loud guests!

This is an absolute no frills hotel, tired decor, faded carpets and a smashed window make this hotels 3 star status seem generous. If privacy and a quiet nights sleep is what you're looking for on a business trip then i suggest looking elsewhere.

Tried the bar in this hotel before the Ireland - Scotland rugby match and came across one of the rudest most foul tempered bar staff I have ever experienced. Terrible service - would never go there again
