“Girlfriends' trip to Dublin”

We loved staying at the Waterloo House. Lovely accomodations. Great Breakfast to get you started. Nice neighborhood with easy access to the bus line as well as some restaurants/pubs and grocery stores for grabbing some quick bites or snacks for the room. Staff was nice ...internet access .. Prices were very good. The Waterloo house is not right in the heart of town. It is a bit of a walk to St. Stephen's Green but you can catch a bus. But if you like a morning walk through the Georgian houses and past many pubs ...this would be a wonderful place for you to stay.

“Satisfactory”

Really liked the location of this hotel, quiet & safe but easy walk to city centre as well as the Aviva stadium.
Hotel was clean & very comfy so no faults there. It was a bit scuffed in places, the paintwork, for example could do with touching up in places, especially in the breakfast room. We sat at a table near the fireplace & noticed the wall was quite scruffy.
Breakfast was nice, had French toast one morning & waffles the next. Very tasty.
My husband had an Irish breakfast which he though was ok, bacon a bit dry & the usual cardboard toast that seems so popular with Irish hotels and b&b's.
I did think it was a bit expensive for what we got but on the positive it was located well & was very comfortable.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 37 which is one of their larger rooms. Think room 36 is similar in size. Its also...

This was out second time staying in Waterloo House. The rooms are not modern but very comfortable. The off street parking is great and the location is ideal for a city stay. Excellent location if you going to a match in the Aviva Stadium.

After spending 4 nights in Waterloo house I now consider myself a fan. It was cosy but spacious and the breakfast is great. Brilliant value and I booked to stay extra nights on account of the good service. Will be back as soon as possible.

“A unique experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Waterloo House is two adjoining properties and there certainly seem to be two very different sets of opinions about a stay there. From this section it's clear that a lot of people really enjoy the great location, the communal areas of the hotel, the breakfasts and the rooms. Worryingly though, there are other guests who consistently complain of the same issues: tired rooms, no hot water by 8:30am, and a lack of interest from the staff, and even the owner.

I stay in Dublin a lot, and these days in the midst of the credit crisis you can get a lot for around EUR90 per night. That was what I paid for a big, old fashioned, dingey room at the waterloo House. Thankfully the bed was clean and comfortable, but I was one of the unlucky ones to experience a cold shower. This sink was cracked, the tiles were coming up of the bathroom floor. All in all the whole experience left me feeling very little of the room charges was finding its way back into any improvements. The only apology I got was a voucher for money off a future stay! My advice - there are some real gems for EUR 90 per night. This place is over-priced and out of touch.

Room Tip: Avoid room 22 and shower well before 8am if you like your shower hot
