“Dublin Tradfest 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Arriving in Dublin early in the morning, we walked to Kilronan House to ask if we could leave our bags until check-in time.

The welcome that we received goes beyond description. Not only was Darren happy for us to leave our bags, he asked if we would like a cup of tea and THEN asked if we had eaten breakfast and directed us to a table, insisting that we have a “Full Irish.” Having travelled for 5 hours and feeling somewhat worse-for-wear, this was most welcome and very tasty.

We were then told that, if we didn’t mind being on the top floor, there was a room available straight away so that we could get our heads down for a while. We accepted the offer and our bags were carried up the 3 flights of stairs to a compact but comfortable room with an en-suite toilet/shower.

The hotel is an old Georgian House with lots of character situated about 15 minutes walk from Grafton Street via St. Stephen’s Green and just around the corner from the National Concert Hall - or you can simply hop onto the nearby tram.

The choice of breakfast items is wide, well presented and staff are very friendly and helpful.
As far as we could see, the only downside to this hotel (and it wasn’t an issue for us) is the number of stairs, especially if you are on the third floor (no lift available) and so we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone that might find this a problem – other than that, this is a great place to stay and we would be happy to consider staying here again.

Room Tip: First floor if you don't like many stairs

“Excellent Stay, Friendly Staff, Perfect Location, Delicious Breakfast all at a great rate”

We stayed in December and this place was excellent. I would recommend Kilronan House to everyone. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They gave tips on where to eat, things to do, directions, and places for music. We were even allowed to keep our luggage in the building between our checkout and trip back to the airport. The location is near the National Concert Hall and St. Stephen's Green as well as Grafton Street. The House was clean and rooms were nice. Breakfast was great and allowed us to be full for the day. Excellent place and will definitely stay next time we are in Dublin.

Room Tip: Staying in the Main House is best

“wonderful stay”

We stayed with friends during a trip to Ireland last fall. This is a very nice B & B. Excellent location to many sites. Quiet street minutes from Trinity College and Grafton St. Our room was very large on the first floor. Friends room was on third floor and rather small. Both were comfortable and clean. Waitstaff was very helpful. Delicious large breakfasts. Knowledgeable about things to do and places to walk. Leon, proprietress, is a gem. Best Irish coffee after a days travel.

Room Tip: ask for the large room on the first floor facing the street.

We were in Dublin for a sort trip (5 days). This is the first time we're leaving a review on trip advisor. We've chosen to do so because we were very impressed by the warm, generous and hospitable atmosphere at Kilronan House. This was not just a place to sleep for us; it felt like a second home. The staff really goes out of it's way for you (all of them!). Our special thanks go out to Anne. Apart from her great tips (Wild Wicklow Tour, O' Donoghues, café En Seine etc.) she gave our days in Dublin a personal touch because of her great sense of humor and positive energy. We will definitely come back to Kilronan House and will spread the word on this lovely B&B.

“Best customer service you'll find anywhere!”

The staff at Kilronan House is unbelievable! They go out of their way to be helpful, friendly and welcoming. This was not my first time in Dublin so I do have other experiences to compare this to. Although I have never had bad service in Dublin, Kilronan House is over the top in its approach to guests. I arrived very early in the morning since my flight got in at 5:30 a.m. I waited at the airport for an hour before hopping on a bus because I thought I'd have to sit out outside in the rain waiting for someone to let me in. When I arrived around 7:30 I was greeted like an old friend, warmly welcomed and offered breakfast. I asked if I might be able to leave my bags there until my room was ready and that was no problem at all, but they went a step further....they asked if I would like a room as soon as they could make one up. I was so grateful to be able to just go upstairs and sleep for a few hours that I wouldn't have cared if the room was small and dingy. But it was really really nice. Tall ceilings, comfy bed, and an updated bathroom. Absolutely nothing to complain about. And for the next three days I was treated like royalty by the staff. I noticed that they took a great interest in all of the guests, but without being intrusive. No question was too much of a bother, and they had great suggestions about how to get around. This is not a 5-star resort hotel...it's an older, charming guesthouse with a few quirks...but the customer service and warm welcome are certainly 5-star!!! I am looking forward to going back there next year, and I would especially recommend this guesthouse to anyone who is travelling solo like I was. They will make you feel right at home!

Room Tip: If you have a problem climbing stairs, tell them when you book your room so you can be at ground lev...
