“Scruffy, dirty and expensive”

We stayed two nights at this poor hotel. The room was abysmal from the door being damaged, windows broken and not shutting and no double glazing in road facing room. There were wires and extension cables everywhere a real fire hazard. The room was also filthy. The breakfast and bar areas where also in need of a clean. No way a three star hotel, I would not even give it one star, a truely aweful place to stay . Photos to support this post to follow.

“Good Hotel Friendly staff”

Stayed here with City Breaks last November for 3 a three night break which was very reasonably priced , Hotel was central about a 15 minute stroll to Temple bar just off O'Connell street local shops and stores on the doorstep , the room was very warm and cosy the beds very comfortable and it was clean, OK the bathroom was a bit dated but we only paid £159 pounds each including return flights from Newcastle personally i think it was value for money , The staff were very friendly and made us very welcome , we paid for the Irish breakfast as it was not include in the price i think it was 6 euro 50 , and you could help yourself to a full Irish, poached boiled and fried eggs done on demand, overall a very pleasant stay in a welcoming hotel.

“so-so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed here at the weekend just gone with my mom and my sister. Got a triple room for 104euro including breakfast (the breakfast was continental-not full Irish). Room was nice (the hotel is old) but was cold on arrival (reception sorted this for us). Nice TV and bathroom and the room was big enough. Parking was 12euro for overnight (car park is small and the parking space needs to be booked). The hotel itself is very central located across from the Gate theatre and where the Bodies exhibition is running in feb. 2 minutes walk down O Connell street and your at henry street shopping area, Clerys and Grafton St just over the bridge. The location is definatly one of the important points-it is so central. Breakfast in the morning was fine, toast, orange juice, tea/coffee, tinned fruit salad and cereal. Self service.

Dear Emma,

Thank you for your review. Our triple rooms have a double and 2 single beds and I am glad your found them spacious.

I am happy that we were able to resolve your concerns with the heating quickly and to your satisfaction.

Our central location is definitely one of our best selling points and it is good that you found it convenient to where you wanted to go in Dublin.

“Ideal location and friendly staff”

We stayed at Cassidy's for a weekend to go to a gig at the O2. The hotel is beautifully located in the centre of the city on O'Connell street. You have all the main shops, bars and restaurants nearby, with Temple Bar just across the river.

The staff in the hotel were great, really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The rooms were nice and the beds were really comfy. There was an electronic thermostat which was an absolute godsend and the bathroom was basic but really clean.

There was a great selection for breakfast and, apart from some dodgy scrambled eggs, it was really tasty and combated the previous day's intake of Guinness. We had a short wait as the breakfast room was so busy, but we took that as a good sign!!

Upon leaving the staff helped us get our boarding passes sorted for the flight and were helpful when storing our bags before we left. All in all - a great wee hotel for a break in Dublin which is highly recommended.

Room Tip: The executive suites are in a parallel building and are quite a walk away from the main hotel (but i...

“Needs a lot of maintainance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

First night in room where the shower was grubby, bulb in bedside lamp not working and the bed linen was totally crumpled (not sure if it hadn't been ironed or worse not changed), but it smelt ok!! Next morning towel rail in bathroom went on fire, we had to ring reception twice before anyone came up, then someone came up, pulled a wire and the whole thing exploded - luckily he wasn't electrocuted. We requested a change of room and were moved to one much better although the bedside lamp wasn't working here either. A few hours later I realised I had left a magnifying mirror in the first bedroom, my husband asked in reception for the key we had JUST handed in, went to the room and it was OCCUPIED so he came out quickly. We reported this to reception and asked about the mirror but the next day no one had heard of it!!! It is not the value of the mirror but I would have liked to know where it had gone. Finally we had to show many people we met in corridors how to find their room as it was like the Crystal maze. Breakfast was poor with spoons for scrambled egg and bacon in water containers swimming with bits of egg and beans - quite off putting. Only thing was the hotel is in good position but certainly will not stay there again. I think management should be more aware of Health and safety rules and although I rung about my mirror (point of principal) I haven't heard anything so it obviously disappeared into wrong hands.

Room Tip: Didn't know anyone could choose a room and really I have no tips.
