Myself and three friends stayed in the Tara Towers in November 2011 for two nights.
We were greeted on check in by the very pleasant receptionist and shown to our rooms on the 7th floor. Unfortunately, our room looked onto a roof and office block but our friend's room looked out on Dublin Bay which was really nice despite the bad weather.
The room was perfectly clean if a little 'tired' (thinned carpets, flayed curtains etc) and stocked with ample amounts of tea/coffee/biscuits/soap etc......
The heating in the room was another issue all together, it seemed to be stifilingly hot in the middle of the night and made for a bad night's sleep.
However, this was only a small problem that could be sorted if the heating was turned down on the in-house system.
Overall, The Tara Towers is a nice, clean hotel with very welcoming staff.....although it could do with a little freshening up.
