“Very dirty”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

We stayed for one night. Despite the good location and the friendly staff the cleanliness of the place lacks entirely. When we arrived there they gave us a room that hadn't even been cleaned nor the sheets changed. Then when we complained they gave us another room that also did not have the sheets very clean.
In the end we asked for cleaned sheets and we changed them ourselves. The blanket is very dirty.
The showers were dirty with hair all over the walls.
We did not even take breakfast I don't want to know in what kind conditions it was prepared.
I don't see why the low prices affect the cleanliness of the place, there are basic requirements ( cleaned sheets, showers, toilets..).
I wouldn't stay there for a second time.

“Woken up at 3:30, not helpful at all...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2010

When we arrived at the hostel we loved it at first. Comfy beds, nice spaces for hanging out, good kitchen. However, the room was extremely loud when we tried to sleep.

At 3:30 am the fire alarm in our room went off. The toilet on the floor above us leaked and it set off the fire alarm. Also, there was a steady stream of water dripping from the alarm. They were nice to us and moved us into another room telling us that they would compensate us and figure things out.

The next day, exhausted and frustrated we had to pack up again because we couldn't stay in that room. So we had to move back to the wet room which now smelled like stale water and mold, and had a wet floor. During the day my bag got wet in the storage room. When we asked about compensation for the horrible night before they said they would talk to the manager but that they didn't think they would do anything for us.
Later we asked about buses, again they said they would talk to the manager. They never got back to us on either and we had to wait to hear about the buses until later. We were never compensated and they never really apologized. The morning staff treated us like we were a huge hassle even though it was their fault.

We were extremely disappointed in the day staff and will never return to this hostel.

“book online from a hostel site or be hit with OVERATED PRICES!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2010

i found this hostel on hostelsdublin.com advertised at 12 euros per night for a 6 bed room,i though it best to pay for the 4 days on arrival,48 euros
2 days for business and use the other 3 for leisure and take in the city

when i arrived tues lunchtime 11th may i asked for the 6 bed,the staff member told me it was 18 euros per night and 20 euros on the frid and not 12 euros
i protested that it states 12 euros on the net and they said 18 euros is the price
after going around the city with a heavy bag i was just glad to get it off my shoulder so paid the overated price
the room i was given was dirty looking and had a foosty smell and the bedding was shabby, the showers were in the basement and i was on the second floor at the other end of the building
after getting a nights sleep early next morning i asked another member of staff of the price jump and was told thats how it is,if i had booked online it would have been 12 euros
i asked to check out and can i have a refund for the 3 days left and was told NO.
i had done what i had to do on the day of arrival so went online in the hostel and booked an early flight back home in disgust and not being able to spend the next few days enjoying the city

so the moral of the story is BOOK THIS PLACE ONLINE OR BE OVERCHARGED!
6 to 8 euros a night more can make a big diffrence to your budget

i will mail them for my refund for the two days i didnt stay there for and i left them a bag of mints to chew on in the meantime,SO WATCH THIS SPACE

apart from only doing there job the satff are great and very helpfull
and for all that dont know, there is anumber 41 bus that leaves from lower abbey st just of o'connel st for the airport at 5am,journey takes around 20 mins 2euros 50c you got to have exact fare, info thanks to the staff

guys just stayed in this hostel. absolutely awsome stay ! cant reccommend it enough. The staff are relly friendly and gave really honest local advice on where you eat and where to visit.they couldnt have been more helpful. it is right in the centre of dublin 2 mins from o connell street ,3 mins from temple bar. the hostel is so clean and the atmosphere was just so much fun. they had a great common room, really easy to meet people and free internet. we had a lovely irish stew in the hostel for really cheap . overall they really made us feel so welcome.would highly reccommend. cant wait to come back !

“For that price?! AWESOME!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2010

I wasn´t expecting much for 14 eur/night but what I got was excellent. The hotel is in great location - right nex to O´Connell Street, 5 minutes from bus stop to airport, 15 minutes to Connelly Station and about 20 minutes to Temple Bar. Simple rooms with usefull lockers and in January really nice temperature - the room wasn´t cold at all. Only the beds could be little mor comfortable. Nice, safe, practical and clean showers and sweet kitchen with enjoyable breakfast. Wi-fi for free. And last but not least ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE STUFF! Guys, you were really nice and helpful to me. When I´m coming again to Dublin I´ll definitely stay with you. Thx a lot for everything! Brigita
