“"Lovely experience"”

We picked this guesthouse as it is ideally located in Dublin city centre with easy access to all the main attractions. Room was very comfortable and very clean. Staff were very helpful and really accomodating. I stayed here for three nights and could not recommend it highly enough. It really was a warm, homely experience for a great price in a great location. I will definatley be staying here again.

I had a very lovely stay in Dublin recently when I went to meet up with friends/have a shopping trip. The Anchor was in a great location, easy to get to my night out and to the shops. Will definitely be staying here on any future trips to Dublin.

“A Great short Break in Dublin”

My wife and I along with another couple stayed here for three nights in mid January. Warm hospitality, great rooms and central location made for a great end to our European Holiday. The price, inclusive of breakfast, was great value. The rooms were cleaned daily and there was a great suppy of hot water. The Guest sitting room with the open fire was a winner. Well done Joan, Greta and Gerry.

Room Tip: Book directly with the Guest House for better value. The Wifi was an added extra.

“Personal Service, Great Breakfast”

Anchor Guest House

Last night 24/1/2012 I stayed in the Anchor Guest House, Lower Gardiner Street. This is a family run establishment, with a warm inviting sitting room and comfortable modern bedrooms. The owner made himself known to me and asked if I required any special order for my breakfast. The room was warm and cosy, great shower and loads of clean linen. Breakfast was a very homely affair and nothing seemed too much for what is a family run business in the heart of Dublin. The location is great and at less than 40 Euro for a mid-week stay this was value for money.

“Very nice except for hot water issues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Our family stayed at Anchor House for several days on either side of Christmas. The location is excellent, within an easy walk of everything you want to see in Dublin. The place is charming and the owners and staff really pleasant and warm. They will store your bags if needed, which was quite helpful. They also can keep your car in their small parking area and will help you park it if you're not normally a left-side driver. The rooms were comfortable - even maybe too hot but we solved that by turning the heating off entirely. The only problem was that the hot water was sketchy. On our first day we had none AT ALL, which was unfortunate because we had just arrived after a long trans-Atlantic flight and wanted desperately to wash up. Future days had hot water or warm water, but it was highly unpredictable. It seems to be an issue of how many other people have used the hot water before you decide to shower. If the staff could solve that problem I'd give the place all excellent marks. As it is, it's still a fun place to stay - but if you're a stickler for long hot showers you might consider elsewhere.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back of the building may have noise during the night depending on the day of the week...
