“Only Place to Stay in Dublin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

This is the only hotel I'll stay in when we visit Dublin which is quite often.

It has everything you need, as long as you are not a family with kids who want a pool or spa, and is really perfect for doing absolutely zero after whatever it is you do during the day.

They don't have a TV in the lounge which is a serious benefit and you will normally find someone in there who is happy to talk; you know that thing we used to do before mobiles and Ipads etc.

Thanks Pat and Anne.

ASMac.

Room Tip: Occasionally early risers can wake you so probably best to have a top floor room.

“Fantastic staff, lovely neighbourhood, easy access to downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

My friend and I were in Ireland for a week. We stayed at the Aberdeen Lodge for the first 3 days of our trip. We were pretty jet lagged when we arrived (35 Euro cab ride from the airport) and were warmly welcomed, fed, and given access to our room (they had an early check in option that we selected). We stayed on the second floor facing the back. The beds were very comfortable, I found the pillows hard as a rock (same everywhere in Ireland where we stayed) Overall the room was small but very nice. There was a tiny bit of mold in the bathroom, as was noted in other reviews, but it didn't bother me. We experienced some noise one night from other guests coming in late, however, generally it was quiet. Some other guests staying on the street side complained at breakfast about the noise.

Breakfast each day was great. We were greeted warmly and were given coffee and toast to start while we decided what we wanted.

We used the DART to get into town each day. It was about a 7 minute walk and an 8 minute train ride. We also ate at the recommended restaurants in Sandymont which was a short walk (about 10 minutes) away. We did the beach walk as well, but it was much more industrial than I was expecting.

Overall this was a great stay, more than anything because of the great service. I would recommend this to my friends.

“Beautiful end to our Ireland trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Travelling with an 8 month old can be stressful but we were made to feel very relaxed as soon as we arrived. We were ushered into a delightful drawing room for refreshments - this was the 'check in' process! We were given a warm welcome and helpful local information from the hotel owner. His wife and young daughter were also very friendly. All the staff were charming in fact. Our room was large and very comfortable. The cot had been prepared nicely for our baby and we had a nice view over the garden and playing fields beyond. The hotel is quite near the DART station which means you have fantastic transport links either into town or towards the ferry terminal. But you can hear the trains a little from the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and clearly the ingredients were of a high quality. A highlight for us was that a staff member offered to carry our baby around the grounds so we could eat peacefully for a short while. These kinds of small touches made it feel like a luxury establishment and yet we paid less than we had paid for a central hotel in Dublin two weeks before. The area around the hotel is interesting and very leafy and quiet. There are good local restaurants a short walk away.

“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

Great location, short walk to train station and small shopping centres with excellent restaurants in the embassy area of Dublin - quiet and well appointed. Lovely staff and very nice breakfast.
The only downside was we had a very small room on the third floor - there is no lift and the stairs are quite steep.

Room Tip: lst or 2nd flloor would be better.

“LOVELY AND CHARMING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

Aberdeen Lodge was such a nice surprise!! It is located in a lovely neighborhood within 5 to 10 minute walks to the beach, restaurants and dart station. Very convenient. The staff including Ann, Augustina, Daniel (and sorry cannot remember all of the names) were the nicest, friendliest and most helpful people. Truly they were. The lodge is like staying at the lovely home of a dear friend. We looked forward to breakfast. I am not a food person but I came home a raved about how fabulous breakfast was! The ambience of dinning with classical music, antiques, white linens with silver serve ware looking out onto the beautiful yard with tons of flowers and a resident kitty, made the fresh phenominal food taste even better! (Now if I say food is great..it really is). The bedrooms were homey and comfy. This hotel/lodge was more than we had expected. When we left after a few days to go to our pre-tour big, noisy, commercial hotel, my husband and I looked at eachother and both said "I want to be back at the Aberdeen" !! I never write reviews .This is all honest and you will not be disappointed. If we go back to Dublin and Aberdeen raises it's rates....we would still stay there.
