This hostel wasn't bad but we definitely stayed at better during our trip in Ireland. We found that the kitchen smelled a bit, and we felt the shared areas such as kitchen and bathrooms could have been cleaner. Our bedroom was fine, as were the other rooms we saw, so no problems as far as that is concerned, although we wondered whether the room we stayed in could be layed out a little better! We had a four bed female dorm, with two bunk beds - however the roof slants in on one side, and one of the top bunks lies underneath that, which means that the person sleeping on this bunk cannot sit up at all! As that person was me I ended up moving the mattress onto the floor and sleeping there (plenty of room to do this - so quite spacious really). The only other very minor point I would make is a suggestion to put a mirror in the female dorm - a little bit of a vain request in a hostel perhaps but as the mirrors were in the shared bathrooms, if any of us wanted to use a mirror we would have to do it there (we just thought it might help free up space in the communal bathrooms in the mornings - perhaps we should have suggested this to the owner at the time!)
Maybe our stay here was tainted by the rainy weather, but the positive side is that the owner Linda is lovely, really friendly and helpful, and the location is good, a short 5 minute walk from Donegal town.
