“An Excellent place to Stay”

My husband and I were on a lovely road trip around the west coast and up to Donegal. We got to downtown Donegal quite late about 9.30 pm and struggled to find a nice place to stay. Worried that we hadn't booked anywhere and it was getting late-
my husband looked up B&Bs from his iphone and came across the Arches. Noreen, the owner, answered and said she had a room available and was happy to give us directions. After a short, scenic drive we arrived. After driving all day and not being impressed with the accomodations in Donegal, we were pleased to find we had come to the right place. It was a breath of fresh air stepping out of the car to the amazing country-side. We were welcomed in and shown to our warm, immaculately clean, spacious room. As this was our last evening in Ireland, it was nice to be able to relax and sleep really well. In the morning we woke to a gorgeous view from our room of rolling hills, sheep, and beauty. We sat and admired the view while having tea in our room before we went down for breakfast. We had a lovely, huge breakfast- french toast, toast, tea and hot chocolate. Before leaving we chatted with the owner about our travels and she gave us a map to take and advice on the best scenic route towards Dublin. We are planning a trip back to Ireland with my family next time and will certainly stayed at the Arches again.

“Our 25th Wedding Anniversary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

On December 11, 2011, my wife and I had the privilege of staying at the Arches B&B in Donegal, Ireland. It was just what we wanted. It was just five minutes away from the city center and yet was quiet and peaceful as it set over the Lough Eske. We really enjoyed the view of the sheep grazing on the farm between the B&B and the lough.
Our room was very large and all accomodations were wonderful. Noreen was the ultimate hostess. She was warm, friendly, and very helpful in planning the rest of our stay in Donegal. We chose the traditional Irish Breakfast which was served hot and was quite delicious. We loved the breakfast nook with large windows and a spectacular view. We look forward to returning one day.

Room Tip: All front facing rooms are the best. The full moon makes the lough glow at night!

“excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

This property was excellent and a beautiful place to stay. It seems a bit remote, but as we found out is not very far from Donegal at all, and we were able to easily drive there for dinner. Our host had recommended we go to Harvey Point Hotel for a bar meal, however they had ceased that service only the week before. If you wanted fine dining, it is a superb location. The rooms are large and roomy and the breakfast great.

“B&B at it's Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Arches. The rooms were beautiful and so relaxing with a sitting area stocked with tea and coffee; towels were plush; and we had a choice of delicious breakfasts each morning. Noreen was always gracious and somehow arranged for a rainbow in the view from my room!

“Hard job to beat this B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Well off the main road overlooking a lake. Best views from a B&B I have ever seen. Rooms were clean, well designed and comfortable. Nice quality towels and bedlinen. Garden was amazing and much praise should be given to hosts husband who apparently looks after them. Breakfast room well designed and cutlery/crockery good quality. Excellent value for money all round. Only downside was filling in a form for breakfast choice day before, but otherwise can't fault it.
