My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in February. The hotel and rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. no issues there. The staff was very friendly and quick to help out if you needed assistance. Probably pointed us to a few tourist sites that the Tourist board didn't. (Go see the cliffs, its about an hour away driving but worth the view)
When you first arrive you pay ahead of time... I wonder if this is because many find there can be better options and might cancel the rest of their stay. Ie we noticed the abbey had 2 nights and breakfast for 50Euro where our deal was 80 euro. Once in the room , we realised our tv remote wasnt working properly. Once aware of this issue the front desk resolved the problem quickly. Our main issue was the pool and Sauna. First off there was no sauna it was a steam room ( there is a difference) As for the pool. You needed a swim cap to be allowed in . Thankfully I had brought mine for doing laps however my man did not so he did not get to enjoy the pool. Even I would have refused to pay the 12 Euro (cant remember it might have been 15Euro) to purchase a swim cap. They should at least offer them at cost.. Also be aware the pool is used by people outside the hotel for swimming lessons etc so there are times the pool is closed to guests. I also had to bring my own towel and since we arent offered extra towels. the now damp towel was to become my drying off towel when I got back to the room to shower. So if the idea of the pool and sauna is swaying you towards staying here as oppose to another hotel, you might want to reconsider it as a pro point. Also I had to hunt down the hair dryer as there was no sign telling me it was in a dresser drawer. Another small minute issue, the hotel offered mini shampoo but no conditioner. First time I ever went to a hotel that did not offer this. a small detail but be aware if you are an efficient packer and expect this from the hotel. At night the rooms were soooo hot. I would have kicked off the duvet but the beds do not have a top sheet to cover yourself with. The next day I snuck an extra sheet out of the linen closet and we slept only with that sheet. It was alot more comfortable. You might want to request an extra sheet. The bed comfort is ok.
As for dining. breakfast was pretty good. The coffee is great, The hot bar is ok . I found it to be slightly greasy overall but it's edible. Same with the dinner menu. Its ok The food is edible but I wouldnt go out of my way to eat there if I wasnt staying there.
In the pics you see a nice cosy fireplace in the entrance. It was not lit on any of the nights we were there. It would have been nice to see and smell the fireplace, afterall its still february and not June. Regardless if it's not a full hotel you do have other guests paying and the hotel pics do show it in their pictures.
Overall a decent hotel but a little disappointing because they seem to offer you more ammenities that are in a central town otel and then failed to deliver on these perks.
