I had dinner with some family members in the restaurant in the East Village over christmas 2011 and was lucky to leave without a major injury.
The restaurant floor was VERY slippery in places, which I found out to my peril when I slipped and fell. Fell. Right flat out on the floor in front of everyone. No alcohol had been taken and I wasn't even wearing high heels!
Since this happening I've heard reports from other people who I know that they've also had several close calls with the floor there - so my advice to anyone who likes to keep their bones whole and their bodies unbruised is to AVOID this place.
Moving on to the dinner - we didn't order starters, just mains and a round of drinks....and when, after 30 minutes, there was still no sign of our meals, I enquired as to where our dinners might be. After 40 mins, I enquired again along with a pain-induced complaint on how 40 minutes was a ridiculous amount of time for medium steaks to take...and our food came along shortly after that.
Was it worth the wait?
In a word: No.
I'm not sure how they did it, but the steaks were bland and unappetising as well as one being quite undercooked. Sadly, the best thing about the food we got was the chips.
To be fair, they did offer us a round of drinks and dessert on the house, but I'm not too sure if that was related to my fall, or having to wait such a long, long time for food.
Also, I'd like to make the point that the problem seemed to be with the kitchen, the wait staff did seem polite and capable, but they can only work with what and when the kitchen gives them.
All in all, I don't think I'll be rushing back.
