“Good Value Weekend Break - 3 and 1/2 out of 5”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Got a great deal - 113 Euro for double room for weekend 9th and 10th Dec 2011

Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel has a nice and relaxed old world charm about it. Food in the bar was good value and tasty. I had the Fish Pie, which was a Sea Food Chowder topped with a lair of Puff Pastry. Not exactly what you'd expect from a Fish Pie, but was very tasty all the same.

Room was warm, spacious enough, and nicely decorated. I was a bit dissapointed with the bathroom, it could do with a new bath and being re-tiled. My wife who would normally always have a bath was put off by a bit of rusty damage to the bath close to the plug hole.

Wi Fi cost 6 euro extra per day. This would have annoyed me if I had not already been getting such a good deal.

Leisure Center was great. Good sized 20m pool.

All in all we enjoyed our stay and found the Montenotte very good value for money, and would stay again.

“hot hot hot COLD!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

had a christmas function for the company i work for at the weekend and decided to book into the hotel as well. got a great bargain on the net for €69 a night with breakfast included. Arrived at the hotel nice and early NO PARKING! so god help anyone who arrived after us! as parking out on the road was a no no as the roads were SO narrow! first time having stayed here or even visited the hotel! so entered the hotel and was pleasantly surprised, greeted by really nice reception girls who chatted to us and wished us a pleasant night! went to the room which was hard to find, so god help us later on in the evening when being three sheets to the wind we could not find our room!

So arrived at the room and again it was easy on the eye what more do you wnat! a tv a bed (WOW) ! no bothers there!! in fact i wish my handbag was big enough to put the bed into it ! or the mattress!! the bathroom was adequate the tiles on the floor were coming away from the groating (is taht how you spell it) and what with having highheels on and the heels getting stuck well that should have been an omen for the night!

got dressed and proceed to go back downstairs for the festivities! arrived in the bar, and found a very good seat to wait for the rest of the party people! now as 8pm drew on the bar was getting busier and busier and there were only 2 staff on! one of the bartenders was getting very flustered and had a MASSIVE red head on him from what can only be stress! as i was sitting at my table a i noticed a girl who i didnt recognise as working for the company trying desparately to get served at the bar when this bar tender with the big red face/head told her actually shouted at her so loud that everyone just stared! he told her that therewere a load of other people before her and to wait her turn, now in my opinion this was way out of order. the poor girl was mortified, and her partner looked as if he could kill the bartender. she tried again to get served and from what it looked like she had bene waiting ages, when this other bartender arrived and said to her that he would be with her next, but then the other bartender came over and started at her again, fair play to the girl she told him she didnt want to be served by him and that the other bartender was looking after her! in my amazement and i have been at a few hotels for parties i have never come across a bartender what such a bad attitude, he shouted at her that he was going to write an email to her company and complain her and he kept jsut shouting at her! i dont even know if she got her drink in the end, I did go to reception later on and complain at this bartender but i dont know if anything was done or not other whether the girl in question complained either!

getting back to the hotel, the function room was done up really well, the serving staff exceptional and were on hand to top up wine or provide more turkey and ham, the tables were cleared away, the head manager that was there was also the manager i complained to and he was an eagle eye and directed his staff effortlessly! The food was really good too and was piping hot when being served

The only thing that is one of my pet peeves is the bathrooms at functions like this, but in this case there were from what i recall only 3 cubicles in the ladies in the function room and the bloody flush would not work! can only imagine what they were like towards the end of the night! thats when i decided to go back and forward to the loo in our room! whilst in the bathroom out by the main reception i overheard a conversation of people giving out about the bartender! and the way he was speaking to guests! YIKES!

so breakfast the following morning was really nice! again the waiting staff were really pleasant and helpful, the check out staff were very nice as well. overall i would go back here and i would recommend the hotel, its just a pity that when people arrive to work that they cant leave their problems at home and not inflict them on guests!

“Underwhelmed!”

Booked king size bed but got two single beds pushed together. Ordered room service, by the time it got to the room it was getting cold i assume because there were no covers on the meals, the dip that came with the chicken wings had a crust on it, the chicken pasta dish had a dry char grilled breast of chicken with really white tomato sauce, a side order of chips was €3.80 for about 8 chips. The toilet was very close to the wall and the flush was terrible. Tv was small with only a standard selection of channels. Was a dissapointing stay

Dear ad 1982
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review regarding your recent stay in The Best Western Montenotte. I have passed on your comments to our food and beverage manager regarding your room service experience. Regarding the bed. The bed you slept in is call a zip and link. The majority of Hotels use this type of bed. I am so sorry that you felt it was not of a standard that you were happy with I have passed you comments on to our Rooms Division Manager who has checked that they are all attached correctly.
Again apologies

“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

It might not be four star and it's a bit worn and the sinks don't drain unless you give the plug a proper waggle! But the food is great, the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are brilliant and the staff are friendly and helpful. I went with a group of other blokes in three cars and we never had a problem parking (had to use the overflow once but then there was a band playing). Bar would stay open as long as you stayed drinking! Price of a Beamish was reasonable as well.
The only other disadvantage was the walk up the hill from the City Centre when you'd had a few more Beamish .... but then you could catch the bus if you were patient!

Room Tip: Go for Rooms 101 to 109 if you'd like quick access to the Gym and Pool!
