The best things I can say about this hotel is that the barman who served us dinner was very friendly and cheerful as was the waitress who served breakfast. Everything else about our time spent here was dismal to say the least. Breakfast and dinner were edible, reasonably priced but not the best I've eaten. The premises badly need a complete makeover. The paintwork inside is grubby, carpets and upholstery badly stained with the smell of beer and cigarette smoke throughout. The rooms were practical although dowdy with grubby, chipped paintwork and in need of some detail cleaning. The hairdryer and phone could have benefitted from the wipe of a cloth. The rim around the edge of the shower tray was black with mould and I won't even attempt to describe how bad the u-bend in the toilet was! The noise made by other guests retiring after the bar closed was unreal with banging doors and raised voices. I would not recommend staying here to anyone and will certainly not be making a return visit.
