“A Homeless refuge more like”

I booked in for 1 night and left in the middle of it. I am easily pleased but this place was horrible. It was a hovel. It was dirty, cold, the bed room doors didn't even lock and any key could have opened them. the photos on the website don't match the rooms. Avoid this place like the plague. I ran out of the place at 1am and drove home 120miles rather than stay there. I didn't even ask for my money back. IT'S A RIP OFF AND A DIRTY KIP

Room Tip: STAY AWAY, Sleep rough its more comfortable

Dear Mr. Dunne,
Thank you for you review. It a pity you did not bring any of your grievenances to the front desk staff directly after checking in. Six hours after check in, the staff on duty offered you
a choice of a couple of rooms that would be more to your liking but you refused to even look or accept any alternative.
The bedroom you were originaly assigned is a bright, large twin room with its own secure lock and key. We are sorry your plans changed and that you decided to travel home.

“Pleasant visit to Cork”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

That was our second stay in Cork City and we were reccomended by our friends to stay at The Ashley Hotel. And we will deifinitely make a return in the future. The staff was very helpful, rooms spacious, bright and clean. They have a fireplace in the bar on the ground floor! Location was excellent and complimentary car park is a huge advantage to compare with the other hotels. The breakfast was very good too-various choice to choose from.

“Great weekend in Cork!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Staying for the weekend at The Ashley Hotel with friends. Car park, centre of Cork City, good coffee, lovely fireplace... We are staying in two nice rooms with spacious bathrooms. In the evening we had drinks while watching rugby on TV. All in all we are having a great weekend and we'd recommend Ashley Hotel to our friends!

“Don't even consider it, just don't!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

My mum booked this one for the first night we arrived in Ireland - she obviously didn't look at the reviews on this hotel because I can assure you she would not have booked it! Having read the reviews on here I can definitely agree with the bad ones and consider that any good reviews on here must be fake! This place was creepily seedy, smelt stale and old ladyish throughout the whole hotel from the second you entered and just made me feel unclean as it felt like a cheap brothel! The bathroom was awful- really old fashioned decor with VERY bad finishing, the (once white) grey looking towels were written on in black marker pen with the hotels name on-yes really, and the bath water was yellow - Irelands water has a slight yellow tint but this was like urine flowing from the tap. Whilst my mum was using the bathroom with the window open (on the first floor I might add) a man wandered casually past clearing the guttering - thankfully she was fully clothed by this point!! The hotel boasts private parking however there is only just space for 3 cars and if the other 2 are parked badly you can't fit yours in as there is a very low wall which prevents you opening your car door and theres no room between you and the other cars to open the passenger door!
The woman on the desk was helpful and friendly enough although I felt she was disengenuous and didn't trust her one bit. The male that made breakfast was freindly and the brekkie was nice enough.
All in all if you want your stay in Ireland to be a nice one, steer well clear of this hotel! I thought this was a taste of things to come so was sooooo relieved to realise the rest of Ireland was not like this at all - please read my reviews for the nice places!!

Thank you for yur review. We are dissapointed to find such negative view of our hotel which has been family run since 1963 in Cork City. We found your feedback upsetting and I cannot agree with all of the points that you included in the review.

We have put a lot of effort recently in renovating our hotel and that can be visible from the moment you enter. Our aim is to provide the customers with the best experience during their stay.

The Ashley Hotel provides a complimentary car park as one of the very few hotels in Cork City.
And it certainly fits more than 3 cars as that was written in your review.
