stayed in the rochestown park hotel in the summer with my husband and little girl and we were more than happy. The room was new and modern lovely flat screen telly and lights that change colours at the flick of a switch overall very very nice, so when we were going down to cork last friday we booked with the hotel looking forward to a nice stay .After driving from waterford in the lashing rain we booked in and headed for our comfortable room or so we taught but when we walked into the room we taught we were in fawltey towers. The room was old and depressing with two miserable lights on the wall and an old fashioned telly to look at ,the double bed seemed to sag in the middle and the single must be the narrowest bed i have ever seen i said to my husband this must be a mistake so he went down to ask and was told by a not so pleasant member of staff that was all was available.I could not get out of the room quick enough and we asked for a refound that was handed over not so happily after been asked had we used the room the room we spent all of five minutes in.we left the hotel feeling very let down and think we should have been told about the room when booking if it was the only one available which i would find hard to belive.I would have liked to come back to this hotel again but now i just do not know.

Dear Trip Advisor Member,
I must genuinely apologise for not meeting the same high standard as you experienced on your first visit to us. I appreciate you highlighting this shortcoming. Last week was a very challenging time in the hotel due to the horrendous flooding and displacement of families in our community. An initiative was put in place to offer complimentary accommodation to these families who had to leave their homes, resulting in our hotel being at full capacity (thus needing to use our back up bedrooms.) I apologise for your room allocation and should you like to contact me directly, I’m be delighted to make it up to you.
Kind Regards
Shay Livingstone.

I stayed here recently with my husband in one of the hotels suites and it was awesome. The room was large and well appointed with 2 tv's in it, something I have not seen in a hotel room before! We were greeted on our arrival to the hotel by the head receptionist who was very warm and gave us a real Irish welcome! It was of 3 hotels we stayed in on our vacation in Ireland and between the staff and the setting it was definetly the best. We will be back!!

I had heard a lot about this hotel from friends and colleagues.......newly done up, fab rooms etc.... My wife and I decided to go to Cork for a weekend break from the kids, my wife is also from Cork so we thought we'd visit her family too and kill 2 birds with the one stone, so to speak. When we arrived and walked into the reception (quite a trek from the car park might I add) we started to marvel at the interior. It was so new and fresh and modern. We approached the desk to check in only to be met by the most unfriendliest welcome ever, in fact there wasn't even a welcome, more like a robotic speech. It was as if she thought we were beneath her and it was a hindrance and a chore to check us in. Her tone of voice when we asked questions was just atrocious. I even checked her name badge as I was going to mention it to the Manager but when I realised she was the HEAD receptionist I couldn't believe a person of such a senior roll was carrying on like this and worse again, getting away with it, I thought if this is the attitude of the head receptionist I can only imagine what the others are like. Thankfully her attitude was not the same as the other staff and we did quite enjoy our weekend afterwards. All of the other staff were extremely nice and helpful, i'm thinking maybe this person should be sent to anger management or something, a disgrace to what a receptionist should be in my book which is friendly and helpful. I can't say I wouldn't go back there but i'd be quite nervous if I was faced with her and her glares again! Thankfully, when we were leaving we were were dealing with a different person and she was perfect, courteous, polite and cheery, maybe she could give her colleague a few tips on customer service!!!!

Situated 10 minutes max from Cork Airport this hotel is in prime location for day trips into Cork City centre and the surrounding areas.
The rooms are spacious, most with a double and single bed in the room, amazing facilities with a high class shower and bath tub, the changeable neon lights around the corner of the ceiling ooze class.

This hotel is advertised as being in nine acres of gardens, no mention of it being next to a major motorway. Would not have picked it if had known this.We were above banquet and conference entrance which was noisy early hours of morning with people congregating outside when leaving.
good points
Lovely big well designed bedrooms
Has a leisure club
Well located for most of Corks tourist sights
Free wireless- bonus wasnt expecting this
Plenty of parking

Bad points
Noise, being next to a motorway
Rude and unhelpful receptionist
No late breakfast for weekends 7-10am
Basic breakfast room service, toast and tea/coffee no hot food
Badly signposted on approach with hotel on left
Not well signposded to reception
