“potentially nice appts let down by poor equipment, facilities and management”

We stayed for 2 nights as a final leg of a holiday around Ireland. the good points are that the apartments are spacious and close to the city centre, on the minus side a lot of things...
Firstly they claim to be Corks first managed appts - not really the case in my opinion - what you are getting is in effect an apartment that looks like it has never been 'lived in'. It is furnished with basic and rather tatty Ikea furniture, paintwork has obviously been patched up repeatedly, walls chipped in places, the king size beds were too big for the bedrooms so each bed only had one bedside table, the wardrobe was positioned against the angled corner of the room so that you couldn't actually pull out the draws, the sofa throw was an airline blanket from KLM - the glasses were carlsberg pint mugs, no wine glasses (but 2 corkscrews!) none of the kitchen worktop lights worked, basic utensals missing, bathroom was grubby with no shelves or space to put any toiletries on and the window had obviously not been cleaned on the outside for months judging by the dirt and bird poo on it. Balcony also hadn't been cleaned for considrable time judging by dirt and ring marks from mugs out there (we also found the missing 4th chair for the dining table there!).

Re checking in and parking - we arrived at 6pm and apartment still not ready - although the manager v helpful in getting luggage in for us. Re parking on street practically impossible - multi storey around the corner cost 15 euros a day but if you booked in advance you could halve this cost - would be nice to have the link on the booking page. Also says overlooking the river - this one didn't - it was directly on a busy, noisy main road.

Potentially these could be very good apartments - just need good management and attention to detail re finish and furnishings. Sadly it appears that the management has not much experience in running serviced apartments, couldn't help but contrast with our stay immediately prior to this in Harbour View apartments in Westport which were exactly what serviced apartments should be.

“great location but average apartments”

we rented 2 apartments for an extended family visit. The furnishing in the apt are a bit past it. The sofa was torn, the shower door was broken. The apts looked as if they had been furnished very cheaply. Not good value at all.

“Large apartment but description is misleading.”

On arrival we could not access reception as it was unattended and locked behind an iron gate. We had to go to the cafe next door ( the girl in the cafe was most helpful). Could not find any hotel carpark - the hotel information said "free non-secure parking". Turns out this meant - find yourself a carpark on the street outside and make sure you move it by 0830 the next morning.
The hotel information also stated "luxury apartments overlooking the river Lee". Our apartment was on the opposite side of the building, one storey up overlooking a busy street. The traffic noise continued all night.
The apartment is large, roomy and clean. A coat of paint would make the place look a lot better. Free Wi-fi was available.
I wouldn't describe this place as a four star hotel; it was just a large two bedroom apartment.

“Exceptional Customer Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

Unfortunately, we didn't get to stay at this property. We made a reservation through Hotels.com, but when we went to check in, the property didn't have any information about our stay. Fortunately, I had printed a copy of the reservation, which I then showed to the manager, Dominic. He then apologized profusely, even though it wasn't his fault. HE spent the next 30 minutes checking various websites, calling local hotels, and doing everything he could to make sure we had a place to stay. I found out later that I'd caught him just as he was about to leave for the day. He had been staying past his normal time to help us find a hotel, even though he wasn't going to benefit from it in any way. Ultimately, he found us some great accommodations nearby. He even printed out directions and highlighted the route to the new hotel to make sure we could get there without any problems.

I was amazed with the level of effort that he put into helping us with no thought of reward and, if he is any indication of the quality of service at the hotel, I can only imagine that the property would be spectacular.

“Perfect location, clean, comfortable, wonderful hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2009

We spent a week at Westview Apartments in Cork, Ireland. Perfect for our family of three. Kitchen and baths were modern and clean. Bedrooms and living room were huge. The location, right on the Lee River, is lovely. Ask for a room on the riverside. Street side apartments are just as nice but can be noisy. The brother and sister owner are very friendly and incredibly helpful. The on-site restaurant serves good food all day, and is simply a nice place to have a beer or glass of wine.
