“Excellent stay”

Stayed here for one night with my husband and 2 children. The building itself is lovely, there is plenty of parking in the hotel grounds. The reception staff were really friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the presidential suite and got a really good rate, we booked directly with the hotel. The room was huge and very clean i could not fault it one bit. They provided us with a camp bed and a travel cot for the kids but the bed was so big we wouldve managed without them! The bathroom was also very big with a separate shower and bath and underfloor heating. There was a very large walk in wardrobe in the room also so there was plenty of space for storage, this had an iron and an ironing board in it. There was also a hairdryer provided. There were 2 sofas and a few other chairs and a couple of tables in the room also. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very nice and reasonably priced, the service also was very good. We also had breakfast here and again the food and service was good. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to returing, my only regret is that i didnt stay longer.

Room Tip: Go for the presidential suite!

“Good quality traditional bar food at affordable prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I had lunch with a friend in Christy's bar, it is part of the hotel. We both ordered a beef and guinness pie. The pie was delicious, the meat was tender and the vegetables cooked very well.
The pastry was a little undercooked but we still ate it. The pie came with salad and roast potatoes, the salad was fresh and crispy. The price including tea for 2 was about €25. It was a hearty meal on a dull, damp January day.
The bar has TVs and they seem to be on all the time, is this really necessary? Otherwise I really like this bar and food.

“Returning again soon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Over the last few years we have stayed at the Blarney Woollen Mill several times and have stayed before, during and after the refurbishment to the rooms. The quality of the rooms does vary according to the aspect, with regard to view and window fittings etc but we have never had an uncomfortable night's stay. The staff were lovely, we have often been given access early to our room after bad ferry crossings, complete with tea and sympathy! The pub was lively on the evenings we stayed, but we heard no noise in the hotel room and enjoyed comfortable, clean rooms on all stays. The service in the restaurant was a little slow, but we were in no hurry, which seems the best way to be, and the food was worth waiting for. The breakfast was good with plenty of staff on hand to help. The antiquity of the building, the location and the people certainly offer more appeal than a modern, city building.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not overlook the back courtyard area.

“So comfortable, however, as good as the food was, I wouldn't eat there again!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed in the Blarney Woollen Mills hotel on New Years Eve 2011. We paid €75 for a 'Superior Double Room', it was in no way 'Superior' it was just a normal double room, which I think could have been cheaper but obviously with the night that was in it, we didn't mind paying the €75 as all hotels increase their prices for these nights.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bed, and room and bathroom was spotlessly clean! We couldn't fault that.

We went for dinner about 8.30pm.. there were only about 10 - 12 occupied tables. Most already eating. So why on earth it took 30 minutes for them to take our order we'll never know. There was at least 6 or 7 waitresses / waiters on including a manager.

When we did get the food, it was beautiful. Well cooked and a great price.

We would stay here again but we wouldn't eat here again as it took so long for them to take our order. We were pretty ready to leave when someone finally came over to us. We did try and call someone a couple of times but they didn't hear us.

Great hotel. I just hope your not overly hungry when you go in and your willing to wait!
