“Felt like we were putting Marie out.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

This was a very unpleasant place to stay. We felt like we were bothering her. I asked about turning on the heater in the bathroom, she lied and said that it was on a timer. The rooms are clean, but she left the window that was in the ceiling (we couldn't reach it to close it) partially open and the wind blew all night - so very noisy. When I said something about it in the morning, she acted like she could care less. The food was good but again if felt like we were bothering her. We met another traveller which was having the same experiance. Could not wait to get out of there.

“Warm and Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

Stayed 2 nights after 2 very long travel days from the US with diversions, missing luggage, miserable driving weather and conditions, and not so restful hotel nights. Marie let us check in early, brought digestives, fresh tea, and let us nap in quiet. It was a blessing to have found this clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and friendly B& B with good food and within safe and easy walking distance of town. I would stay again.

“Adequate B&B, great breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2011

Located an easy 10 minute walk out of Ennis town central, this is a quiet and adequate bed and breakfast. Rooms are located on the top floor of the house and we had no problem with noise from the rest of the house. The bathroom was large for the room size and there were two beds in our room - a double and a single. Bedding was fine and the room was heated.
The breakfast was hearty and of good quality and served in the front room downstairs beside a little fireplace which was charming. Parking was onsite. If you are not looking for absolute luxury but want something in a convenient location that gets you a little out of the town centre, then this is a good choice.

“Perfectly fine B&B”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2008

When we arrived, Marie, the landlady, picked us up from the bus station and also dropped us back there for our return bus the next day, which was very kind of her.

Stayed in a twin room with ensuite shower room. Both were a good size and were clean. The only minor criticism was that the shower was fairly lukewarm and never really got hot.

Only stayed for one night and we were out fairly late (all was quiet when we got in) so I can't comment on other folks' experience with noise in the evening. We had a light breakfast, which was all OK. Overall, I thought the B&B was absolutely fine for our short stay.

  • Liked — Within easy walking distance of town centre.
  • Disliked — Shower was lukewarm.

“Price is hard to beat but the place does have some issues”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2008

On the one hand, the price was hard to beat. If memory serves, it was only something like 30 or 35 euros a night. And the breakfast was fine.

But, I have to concur with the negative reviewers' points. We had a child with us and thus went to bed early. It was, however, difficult to sleep with the constant noise downstairs. Like the one reviewer says, for whatever reason, there was frequent banging of doors, and it sounds like the banging is right on top of you. Plus, I unfortunately also have to agree with the one previous point about the owner - she's not going to win any awards for being the warmest of hosts. In Ireland, where almost everyone I've ever encourtered in multiple trips there seems incredibly nice, the lack of warmth was odd indeed.

At the end of the day, if you're not planning on going to bed until late (and thus can hopefully avoid the incessant door banging) and don't care about getting a warm greeting, I guess it's not the worst place in the world to stay, especially given the price. The rooms were clean enough, and it's only a short walk to the center of Ennis.
