“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I was given an overnight at Cameron House as a Christmas present. There was a misunderstanding about the booking on our arrival but it was sorted out quickly. We have visited the hotel twice before and enjoyed it.On this occasion I was bitterly disappointed. The room was cold as was the hotel in general.I was told that I should have contacted reception and it would have been rectified.Too late.
The room was to the standard expected from this Hotel but so cold.We had dinner in the Cameron Grill and I initially asked to be moved from my first seat due to the draught from the kitchen.I then watched 2 other couples also requesting to be moved.I had worn a dress for dinner and I had to go to my room and change between courses as I was so cold. The meal was good. The bar prices were in keeping with a hotel of this standard.
The leisure centre was to its usual good standard.
I am a regular contributor to Trip Advisor and I try not to be too critical but I was bitterly disappointed with this visit and I don't think that I will return to Cameron House.

Thank you for contributing your feedback on tripadvisor. I apologise that your third visit was not of the standard that previous visits had been, and that this particular stay was disappointing in certain aspects. I do wish that you reported that your bedroom was not a comfortable temperature, as this would have been rectified promptly.
Despite the disappointments outlined, I am glad that you enjoyed a good meal, found your room to be of a true 5 star standard, and that you regarded our leisure club highly.
I do hope you reconsider, and return to Cameron, allowing us the opportunity to prove to you once again what a great resort we have here,

Kind Regards,
John Keating

“Let down by customer service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I have just returned from a one night stay at Cameron House, however I have to say that it was not a 5 star experience, from a supposedly 5 star hotel.
The issues started when we tried to contact the hotel a few days before our arrival to alter our dinner reservation. It took 15mins of waiting for the phone to be answered; being put on hold for 7 mins, then being cut off, and then eventually being able to change our reservation.
On arrival we walked up the stairs at the front door, carrying our bags, and the doorman, in full regalia, came out and completely ignored us - not a good first impression.
We checked in, but were told our room wasn't ready. The receptionist said she would call us on my mobile when the room was available (the call never happened) and we wandered along to the Great Scots Bar, which is, seemingly, the only bar in the hotel, to wait. The bar was relatively busy, but that does not excuse the utterly shambolic service. We ordered a drink, and had to ask someone 10mins later where it was - we could actually see the drinks sitting on the other side of the bar, but the staff were so disorganised no-one brought it over! A couple sitting beside us waited twenty minutes and then walked out. I assume the gentleman complained, as managers appeared and spoke to some members of staff, in full view of the guests - I would suggest the managers spend some time looking at staff organisation and training, as for a 5-star hotel the experience in the bar was embarassing.
We got fed up waiting for our phone call and went back to reception. The girl who checked us in, was not there, but our room was suddenly ready - it would appear she forgot we were waiting.
Our room was very nice and well appointed - we have no complaints about the accomodation or the cleanliness or decor of the hotel in general.
We had dinner in the restaurant. This was a very pleasant experience, and the customer service from the staff there was excellent. The food was very good, although over-priced, however I suppose this is to be expected in a 5-star hotel.

We have stayed in many hotels around the country and expected better of Cameron House. We can only speak from our experience during our stay, however, I think De Veres needs to look at how their staff are managed, trained and monitored. There is no excuse for, what we can only describe, as unprofessionalism.

Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback of your experience at Cameron House. I sincerely appreciate your praise of the food and service in our Cameron Grill restaurant, the décor and amenities in your bedroom, and of the cleanliness standards throughout the resort. However, please accept my sincere apologies for the issues encountered, particularly the experience described in the Great Scots Bar, which is completely unacceptable. Please be assured that this is not the level of service that we pride ourselves on delivering, and your comments are being reviewed by all heads of department concerned.
I do hope you return in the future, and enjoy the comprehensive 5 star experience that all our guests should,

Kind Regards,
John Keating

“top class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed 8th and 9th February. After a misunderstanding during the booking process we arrived at the Hotel slightly disgruntled but were soon won over. At check in we were informed we had been upgraded to an executive suite overlooking the Loch. The suite was everything you would expect it to be and the view was wonderful.
A call from reception [Ewan] to ensure everything was in order set the tone for the remainder of the stay. All the staff from Allan, Concierge, to Isabella, Cameron Grill, were first class.
Took advantage of the Curry Buffet night at the Claret Jug on Wednesday night, excellent and under £16 a head for food. Beware price of drink as it reflects the quality of the Hotel and is not cheap.
Spa/pool area was very good and again staff were very pleasant.
Had a truly fine time at the Hotel and would recommend it for that special occasion.

Room Tip: try and get a Loch view room.

A huge thank you for your review. I really appreciate you recommending Cameron as a great destination to explore Scotland, and with close proximity to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs I must agree with you entirely. I also appreciate you advising our guests to spend some time admiring the portraits of the legendary Scots on the walls of our main bar. I am delighted that you enjoyed an excellent stay, and would very much would like to welcome you back to Cameron House in the near future,

Kind Regards,

“Outstanding!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Stayed again in January with 2 other couples and the children.....and I have to say this place just gets better. From the SPA experience to a typical family lunch in the BoatHouse they could not do enough to make us welcome.
I am newish to trip advisor and have read some other reviews on the hotel, however, personally I think some people are just too hard to please and perhaps it’s their attitude that has to change!

Room Tip: If your splasing out ask for George the Butler. We didn't have him but once you met him you'...
