4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

Visited this hotel as part of a group for a xmas party night and I was really impressed. Check in was quick and welcoming and on entering our rooms the quality and space was impressive. The evening itself was one of the best i've attended, even higher graded hotels could not measure up to the Rob Roy. All the food served was of good quality, piping hot, plentiful and fulfulling with no huge delays between courses. The band and intermediate disco were entertaining and a hit with all age groups plus just the right amount of xmas songs. Bar prices were very great value considering this is a 2 star hotel and the buffet breakfast most welcoming. Most impressive of all though was the standard and quality of the food and last but by no means least the staff who were pleasant, friendly, proffessional and a credit to their employers. Guess were our xmas night out will be next year!

Room Tip: All our allocated rooms were of the same quality and high standard.

“Basic but a great night out”

I was at this hotel with my husband for an over night on Sat 26th Nov, I was there with another 12 couples. The rooms are very basic but also very clean. We had booked for a Christmas Dinner Dance. All in all an over night bed and breakfast 4 course meal and a great band, all this for £60, so on this fact I think it is very good for the money.

The breakfast was also very good, cereal, oj,then help yourself to bacon, sausage, eggs beans etc.

I would definatly recommend this for such an event, the staff were aas good as any staff in any other hotel if a higher class.

“Great Birthday”

I went to the Rob Roy Hotel for a party night on Saturday the 19th November 2010 and was pleasantly surprised. The Hotel is rated 2 star but dont let this put you off, it should at the very minimum be a 3 star. I have been in some so called 4 star hotels that the Rob TRoy would put to shame. The rooms are massive, clean and very comfortable with a very simple and easy to work heating system. Plenty of cupboard space. Only fault is the lack of power points in the room but we always take electrical extensions with us. The Hotel has a very modern and bright lounge bar area and the prices for drink are very reasonable indeed compared to most Hotels. eg £11 for a bottle of house wine. Exceptional value. The food was also very good and the service prompt and professional. The entertainment was first class with the band playing music that not one person could complain about. From their first song to their last, the dance floor was full and catered for practically every musical genre. After a good nights sleep we woke to a hot buffet breakfast which again the staff were prompt and professional in anything asked of them. The siting of the Hotel couldnt be more perfect. Set in a picturesque part of the country, not too far from Glasgow, you are minutes away from the gorgeous Lake of Menteith. Also not to far away is the most beautiful loch in Scotland, Loch Katrine as well as Loch Lomond, the Trossachs town of Callendar and Stirling. A great place to stay for a great Scottish adventure

Arrived on the Friday afternoon to a friendly reception. Room ready and was to a good standard. Clean, warm and homely. Spent friday night in the hotel and even although only booked in for dinner was advised we could participate in the function that was being held in main hall. Spent pleasent evening relaxing in the bar. We were booked in as part of a party of guest for the Satuarday evening dinner dance. Very good night had by all. Resident group were very good but a little loud. The dinner both nights was very good, warm and tasty. Breakfast both mornings was a buffet style which had an adequite variety of food. Overall enjoyed our stay and will return.

“Excellent value for money.”

My daughter booked this hotel for a wee getaway night for her Dad's birthday. On arriving we were greeted by a lovely lady, Ann, at reception. She was very helpful and advised us all about where to go for dinner, breakfast etc. We arrived at our rooms and found them to be basically furnished but very clean. Only downside was the mattress on the bed was rock hard. I have a firm mattress on my bed at home but I could imagine that this was what sleeping on a park bench must have felt like. Apart from that, everything was spot on and worth the money my daughter paid through Deal at 5pm.com. The dinner was 4 course (very tasty) plus coffee and was served by yet again the lovely Ann from reception. Her customer service is second to none and is a credit to the Rob Roy Hotel staff. We would definitely return again.......as long as the mattresses are changed for slighly less firm ones. (It's possible that this was the only room that had a rock hard mattress (room 63)

ps. this is not a negative review re the mattress it's a truthfull review.......... it definitely was rock hard. :(
