“Not good”

I don't think this is really a hotel. It feels like overflow accommodation for nearby Sullum Voe oil terminal. Rooms are very dated and need a lot of work. I had a drink in the bar and was frankly a bit scared. It was 7.30 on a Friday evening, but the jukebox was at full volume and there were a lot of drunk oil workers. It felt as though a fight could start any minute. I retired to the dining room, but the menu looked like the Sullum Voe canteen menu. I decided not to eat and retired to bed. Was awoken at 7.15 by the housekeeper, who was working in the corridor, having put her radio outside my room at full volume. I decided to pass on breakfast and left as soon as possible. An awful place.

“very friendly emergency stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

We initially stayed here reluctantly as we could not find other stop-gap accommodation for a single night while awaiting entry to our holiday cottage. The hotel itself is pretty dated, the decor is worn and it appears uninspiring; however the welcome from the staff could not have been better. The room, while underwhelming in appearance, and looking out through french windows onto a wire dog run, complete with 4 collies and a sizable number of hens, boasted not only the usual tea and coffee, but a fridge and a toaster, a spacious, separate, seating area, 2 televisions, a DVD player and an interesting lockable double door giving access to the next door room where our children were. Following a rough ferry crossing the previous night, we slept late the next morning but we found nothing but helpfulness from the staff, who waited for us and cooked breakfast for all five of us after official breakfast closing time cheerfully and without complaint. Maybe not luxurious or externally impressive, but very adequate for our emergency stop-over, and completely redeemed by the helpful and friendly staff.

“Great area, terrible hotel!”

Working nearby, stayed for a week. Staff were very unhelpful and provided a poor service, even the bar staff seemed to hate their jobs. Rooms were very outdated and tacky, ceiling tiles in reception were all falling apart. Caught the night porter sleeping when i got up in the middle of the night to go for a smoke.
